  1. Shortly after. I've read that Union was in part inspired by his dealing with feuding families day after day.
  2. Fairly belated, but I have a few pictures up here.
  3. I believe the current Wilco lineup has been trying to stick to playing actual Wilco songs - at least in the past few years. Being a Loose Fur song, officially, that sort of disqualifies Laminated Cat. Not that I wouldn't love to hear them do it. Because I would. The closest I've come in the recent past are the versions Jeff did solo, accompanied by Glenn on the drums, and those were fantastic with just the two of them.
  4. I got back into the country Sunday afternoon, just in time to see this show at NU on Sunday evening. Crazy? Perhaps. But it's been a long time since I got to see any of Glenn's solo or side project performances, and I really wanted to see what All-Stars were all about. Before the show started, I overheard some middle-aged ladies behind me discussing what was to come. "The guest tonight is a ROCK drummer!" "Oooh, a rock drummer! It's going to be loud!" They weren't wrong, but I think the loudest portions of the evening may have come before Glenn was even onstage. The first half of the
  5. Ah, Johnny, now that's a review! Nice song choice, skykev. (I'm assuming.)
  6. Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes will be reporting for duty. If you're a pro football player, watch your house!
  7. Dunja, I just saw this. That car photo is the stuff of nightmares! Such a terrifying experience, but I'm so glad that Tara will mend. My thoughts are with you guys - take care.
  8. I'm way behind on uploading, but I have some pictures on flickr.
  9. I have some pictures from a few of the shows - here's one from the festival: And here's one of the drive to Whitianga:
  10. Yeah, I normally kind of hate festivals anyway, so I was wondering if we were crazy to make the drive from Auckland. (My first experience driving on the "opposite" side of the road; quite an initiation.) But I'm so glad I got to see the Coromandel Peninsula. Cathedral Cove, Hot Water Beach, etc. - gorgeous. I wasn't expecting the hot water at Hot Water Beach to be quite so hot.
  11. My source indicates the setlist was: You Are My Face Side With the Seeds Handshake Drugs A Shot in the Arm Jesus, Etc. Impossible Germany Via Chicago -Happy Birthday to monitor tech Steve- Hate it Here Walken I'm the Man Who Loves You Kingpin I'm a Wheel ------------- Monday Some serious technical difficulties caused Wilco to take the stage about 40 minutes late, but once on they played a high-energy set that the crowd definitely seemed to enjoy. Fortunately, it didn't seem like the set time was cut down from what it would have been with an on-time start.
  12. If your Love Police ticket has a stamp on it that says something like "This stamp is a Love Police action" then you will get in a few minutes early.
  13. Happy, happy, HAPPY belated birthday, Judy! I drank a flat white in your hono(u)r. I can't wait until I see you in April.

  15. I took a few photos, which are here.
  16. This show reminded me how much I love Cain's. I saw the last show the band played there as well, and was very glad I was able to make it back for this one. I thought the set they played was a perfect fit for the night. I'm pleased that I finally saw Jeff's fancy suit in action!
  17. Great shows this weekend! We're currently taking advantage of IHOP free Wifi ... I hope Jeff gets some good rest for his voice in the next week or so.
  18. I grew up in Kenosha, and most of my family still lives there. You have to do the Cheese Castle. Also visit Tenuta's Italian Deli, and the Jelly Belly Factory. (They don't actually make them there, but you can still take a tour and buy cheap "belly flops.") It tickles me to no end that VCers will be descending upon Kenosha in July. Maybe my parents can host a dinner or something. As for the actual triathalon, the swimming would probably be the sticking point for me too. I'd like to just dabble in a few of these - run half a mile or so, swim a little bit, ride a bike a few blocks and ca
  19. Okay, then let's start talking about the article again. Pretty simple. I thought it was very good, but I really loved reading the comments. Sounds like it reached a lot of people. Not to mention those who posted thoughtful responses here - I can honestly say I didn't realize anxiety/panic disorder and migraines were so common.
