  1. It's a different concept, obviously, but I don't think having more songs to draw from makes it less impressive that they pulled out even more individual songs. The Residency was billed as a five-show run during which Wilco would play their entire officially-released output, and they did that. This run of show was billed as ... five shows in increasingly smaller venues. They didn't promote anything about the setlists, so it's very cool that they went for this kind of variety. The Residency still has a special place in my heart, of course.
  2. I crunched the Residency numbers, and came up with 96 unique songs over those five nights. So, hot damn! With little setlist fanfare beforehand, they managed to outdo themselves during the Incredible Shrinking Tour.
  3. So, who's all going to the Irving Park & Cicero Sears tonight?
  4. You're just pleased it wasn't you this time! One other thing about the extremely close quarters was forgetting that the whole crew could easily hear pre-show conversations. The setlist choices were perfect for the venue. The quieter songs came through with great clarity, and then seeing songs like "Art of Almost" and "Laminated Cat" in that setting was just ... holy shit. Also, the small crowd was mostly very well-behaved. There were shouts and such between songs, but being able to hear the final note (or scrape of a finger on a guitar string) of many full-band songs before the ovation b
  5. Wilco at Lincoln effing Hall. Holy shit. What an amazing night. Maybe I can post something of substance after I've slept. (Since I got home I haven't stopped sneezing. I'm allergic to not being in Chicago and not going to shows!)
  6. "Pssst! Pssst! Best killer. Sirhan Sirhan. Same name twice." Seeing Wilco at Metro was crazy! Everything happening on stage felt so close to the crowd. Because it was. I loved seeing "Dreamer" again, and ELT, and the A.M. selections... so much fun. I also enjoyed the updated value of diet Coca-Cola and unlit cigarettes.
  7. Oh, come on. The last show I attended before these was Milwaukee, which was great. Encore bookended with both versions of Outta Mind/Outtasite! Last night was awesome. Not that I would mind hearing some other repeats from previous nights, but it will be so cool if they keep this pattern up.
  8. I don't think srmt was actually texting during Spiders. But I really enjoyed the loose vibe from the band and the crowd. I also felt some residency deja vu last night, but it also seemed like the Riv felt much smaller - and the stage lower - than I remember from the residency. I guess it's like going back to your old elementary school and noticing everything looks so different from what you remember? I must have seen other shows at the Riv since 2008, though. It was really surprising to hear Red Eyed/I Got You so early in the set, but for me, that just made it all the better. I love being
  9. It was sold out for a long time, Lou. I know, as someone who tried to get tickets during about five different ticket sales. They released more tickets yesterday, probably production holds. Seeing Mavis up there with Nick Lowe and the band for The Weight was wonderful!
  10. I have no idea what will happen today in Detroit, but at that Royal Oak show both lines ended up getting let in at the same time because one of the fans in the regular line complained to a person of influence. I don't think that's something likely to happen with a Live Nation-sanctioned perk, but who knows?
  11. Great show, GREAT encores! And way to go Nick Lowe for inserting the Pfister Hotel into "Bride."
  12. Congratulations to Wilco on not being nominated for Best Americana Album!
  13. Coming this January to the Food Network.
  14. I have two GA tickets for Des Moines that I won't be using. Willing to sell them at face value minus the fees, as long as the show isn't sold out.
  15. And one of my least-cherished Wilco memories is meeting up with you guys in LA right after that series of shows and hearing your giddy discussions of everything I missed. (Kidding ... mostly.) Luckily, the rest of that week was pretty awesome too! Skylight Books, my birthday, Wiltern, Glenn and JB at Largo, Tempe...
  16. I think your sig needs some updates, as much as I'd like to support various 2010 causes.
  17. For whatever it's worth, here's what the asterisks mean: **may still be available from other sources. Please call for information from the venue box office. I guess it's probably a standard venue thing, since they made a big deal out of this being an internet-only sale.
  18. Actually, Sunloathe hasn't been played at all.
  19. Update: the 10/29 ticket has been spoken for. 10/28 still available.
  20. I bought a standing room ticket to each of the London Roundhouse shows way back when they went on sale, but it turns out I can't make the trip. Each ticket will be available for pickup in person on the night of the show. Let me know if you need one.
  21. Why are you assuming they'll skip over Saturday?
  22. There's not too much difference in Metro and Park West capacity. 1150 vs. 900.
  23. I sent you a private message after you first posted. Do you see a little envelope at the top of the forum, next to your user name?
