That was fantastic! Whenever I listen to Revolver, I replay "And Your Bird Can Sing" at least once as a matter of course. I'm glad Wilco subscribes to that policy as well.

Ha. I voted for Sister Ray by the VU. I am sure it will DEFINITELY happen.

The poster says doors at 4, not show beginning at 4.

Great report, P. It's really interesting to hear about these shows from your perspective. And I'm so happy for Maki getting a shout out! Enjoy the remaining shows, Japanese fans! And travelers, enjoy the rest of your trip. -

Fiona, thanks for the great report! I really wish I'd been able to make this trip - it sounds like you got a great show in Wellington. I, too, hope to see you again on some future travels. -

None of the shows are convenient for me, unfortunately, but I will add that "Horoscopic Amputation Honey" is one of my favorite songs ever.

I need to listen to that one again. It was a great night! You're right, P - so many friends in town. Here's a picture I took during the show (back then photos were allowed). It was so long ago this was scanned from an actual film camera. Laminated Cat on Flickr

Jeff Tweedy solo benefit show at the Vic - 3-14-2013
Preferred B replied to hinko's topic in After The Show
I would assume that for these benefit shows Jeff might let things go re: camera flash and video that he otherwise would not. I certainly don't condone the behavior and it drives me as batty as it does everyone else, but there's the whole "expensive ticket" element, and at least part of the audience for these shows are parents and teachers from the school. I imagine it would be awkward for all concerned to yell at someone and then figure out it's a person you know. I love the benefit shows every year, and Jeff does his best to please everyone he can within the request parameters. This year ev -
Oddly, that blog post doesn't cover noon-6pm. Maybe it will be updated later.

Jeff Tweedy, etc. — 12/18-19/12, Chicago, IL (Letters To Santa)

The first song Glen Hansard and band played was "The Auld Triangle." -
Great recap, P. I'd also like to add that the questions solicited for Nate Silver from the audience at Second City were almost without exception well-thought-out and interesting. If only all audience q&a's could go so well.

Thanks for the reviews! My god, I would have been cold. So so cold. I can barely handle waiting in line in that kind of weather, so I applaud all of you attendees and especially the band. Were there space heaters on stage? How could anyone feel their fingers enough to play guitar?

gogo, it's so sad that you tried to get this going again in June and somehow I haven't responded until now. I'm a bad example! Dusk at Fish Creek Beach by ilamya, on Flickr Orpheum, second floor by ilamya, on Flickr

I do remember reading the LA Times blog, and it was actually the inspiration for my request ... if it started out as a slow jam, I assumed it could be done solo. I'm glad it worked!

Whoa! I had no idea this was such an early show. In my dream world, all shows would be at this time. Was Ms. Y there for When You Wake Up Feeling Old? -

I've been methodically requesting "Be Not So Fearful" for Solid Sound, which I also decided to do pretty much out of the blue. Maybe it's in the air? I'm sure that song was better suited to a theater, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop. Thanks for the detailed report. Always interesting to read. -

I agree with Paul and Lou on the fest vibe. It has a real community/neighborhood feel. This was the last time I'll see Wilco this year, and it was a nice show to go out on. Beautiful weather, too. -

Sounds like a really fun show! I wanted to point out that audiences in places other than Missouri would love to hear New Madrid sometime, but I realized it won't do me any good for the rest of the year anyway ... so forget I said anything. I wonder if Nate's new video will mean Sunloathe sees a debut on the West Coast? That was a thought last time they were in CA, if I remember correctly. -
