the crime and city solution tunes i put on my cd are cave related. simon bonney used to be in the birthday party ... so the ccs stuff sounds very much like early nick cave.

on the (slightly) bright side, she'll be covering songs of a respected writer & not writing her own drivel.

if you listen to the live (90's reunion) version of 'all tomorrow's parties' you'll realize it is real-time. I've seen cale live & he is very skilled w/ the piano. the boxed set is very worthwhile. one of my favorites is the version of 'the ocean' that is on there.

when was that?

I wonder what our fascination or need to classify everything by decade is all about. There is crappy & good music at any given time. I have to agree that there was a lot of great music happening in the 70s; even disco had its moments. The Bee Gees disco-fusion was brilliant and (perhaps) unparalleled. I guess I'm biased because I was born in 1970, one of the first albums I remember getting into was a Kris Kristofferson album when I was 5. Because I was so young I was mostly just soaking up whatever was out there, like Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Electric Light Orchestra, Crystal Gayl

I probably should, but I'm woefully ignorant about bittorent. I should ask that one forum .... on LZ's last tour, why did John Paul Jones have a telephone on his keyboard???
