  1. That was Bob Lefsetz. And I'm sorry, Carrie. It sounds like you're not having luck so far. Come to Norfolk! I'll pick you up tickets tomorrow morning at the box office. I'll even put you up in my messy apartment.
  2. My local store says it's "on order" but didn't even know whether they had the white or the black vinyl ordered. Which is why I bought on eBay.
  3. I know Norfolk is off the beaten path and it's a Tuesday show, but the Norva is a great venue. Less than 1500 capacity, all GA standing on the floor with very limited seating on a side balcony. Wilco played here in 2004 and 2007, great shows with lots of crowd energy. I mention this because I'm going to go to the box office on Friday and buy as many tickets as I can. Face value is only $40 + maybe a dollar or two venue fee. If anyone would like me to pick up hard copy tickets for them for this show, PM me here. Friday's payday for me so I will have some spare cash to buy up as many tickets
  4. I got a white version from eBay. Paid a little more (about $29 including shipping) but that's my penalty for not having jumped sooner!
  5. I don't know what the deal is with Philly, but TWEEDY just played at a beautiful venue there earlier this year, if memory serves.
  6. Omg omg omg, Wilco is coming to the Norva!!!
  7. Sorry, I didn't phrase that well. I've already got the t-shirt, print and CD but now want to buy the vinyl. Do you have a preference for which vinyl version to buy? It seems like the white one would be cool, but does the other version have anything in particular to recommend it?
  8. I haven't bought the vinyl yet but am planning to. Do you have a preference as to which total package you'd recommend?
  9. Nonsense! You didn't say anything wrong. I think we're all wondering what this event will be like. I hope someone from here goes and can give us a report. (I volunteer to do it if you all want to chip in on airfare and hotel...)
  10. Hey, I definitely didn't mean to imply that I would blindly do whatever Jeff tells me to do. (Although, let's face it, I probably would, since I realize I'm magnetized!) For sure we need to make hard choices sometimes--I make the Vic solo shows a priority because they're usually 2 shows back to back and a unique experience, but I wouldn't go to this show no matter how worthy the charity since the bang for the buck just isn't there for me. Obviously it's a tougher decision when one has to factor in airfare and lodging in addition to ticket price. Likewise, the Vic shows could probably be sup
  11. We should start a write-in campaign. Jeff and Marc are both so real I think it could be amazing.
  12. I pretty much never question whether something Jeff supports is worthwhile. I can't recall anything he's done--charitably, politically, etc.--that I have any quibbles with. I admire and share his values.
  13. I noted at least one VCer who lives in Chicago who said on her FB page that she's going.
  14. I'd love to see some shows in the mid-Atlantic/southeast area. It's been a while. Would love to see a TWEEDY or Jeff solo show or two around here too. Beyond that, I'm hoping Jeff continues doing the all request shows at the Vic for charity. Those are always such highlights for me. This year's show in May was a little strange since it was one night instead of two, which made it a tough decision to fly in for just one show. Also, the late announcement, coupled with the fact that Wilco had just played 6 nights in December and TWEEDY had just played 2 nights in March, may have led to the show
  15. Lucinda Williams at the Norva. So glad we seem to have dodged the Joaquin bullet, so the show will go on, despite localized flooding.
  16. The crew was out on stage conferring before the show and I was a little worried they might call it off entirely. But then they began shoveling off the stage with big squeegee mops and shaking the pooled water off the tarps. They started 5 to 10 minutes late. It was an energetic, fun set with almost no words spoken from the stage other than "Has it stopped raining? That's good." I tried to get a setlist but was refused twice. I wonder if anyone got one. That would probably answer the question as to how they might have deviated from their plans because of the weather.
  17. I definitely would like to connect! I'll send you a PM with my phone number. I'm getting very excited for this fest. It's such a great lineup and I love the idea that it's the first year.
  18. It would be so helpful if Jeff would say something from the stage at a seated venue, encouraging people to stand and dance if they wanna..
  19. Anybody who's been to concerts with me knows that I have a similarly hard time keeping still, but I would say that no matter how much you need to boogie, you should try to strike a balance between satisfying your need and maybe creating a vortex of bad vibes around you. I mean, I'm with you--why would ANYONE sit during a Wilco show?--but the fact is some people do. In those situations I can be a pretty animated chair dancer. In the future, if it's that important to you to stand, I would suggest GA shows for Wilco. I don't think you'll run into a mosh pit with Wilco fans. If I was going to th
  20. You got yourself a pretty cool thing there. That's probably the best way to think of it. I once bid on a t-shirt on eBay that was from the YHF tour and was signed by all members of the band at the time. It was actually featured in the Sam Jones movie. I put in a maximum bid of $60 but ended up the only bidder and got it for less than $20.
  21. Yes, they did play. I know some people who were there but they rarely post on Via Chicago. Wish they would....
  22. This sounds like it could be really special and interesting or a trainwreck. I wonder what percentage of the audience will have only a passing familiarity with Jeff and Wilco.
  23. Yeah, too bad the number of nations that would be completely unaffected by what's going on in the US is very small. I do find this stuff more disturbing and scary than funny. It's hard to keep a sense of humor about it.
