  1. Yeah, but at this point I'm not reading anything into that--just that there are so many brand new Tweedy solo shows just announced. I mean, there's still Lock'n coming up in a few months, and Solid Sound next summer. With everything going on with the guys musically and otherwise this year, it doesn't seem likely we're getting a new Wilco album anytime soon, but I'm hoping that whatever practice time leads up to Lock'n, as well as the days they spend there, will help them all reconnect and fire up the special Wilco creative juices. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see what the Tweedy sol

  3. Boy,this commercial really has legs. I've been seeing it a lot recently, including on tonight's Jimmy Fallon. It doesn't seem like most TV ads stay in rotation this long. We must not be the only ones susceptible to Glenn's charms.
  4. There are more than 2 of us. Me too! We should try to set up a rendezvous somewhere. I'm also going to try getting into this aftershow.
  5. I'm really sorry to hear this. It's happened to me--more than once, unfortunately--and it can really do a number on your sense of self worth;. I think back fondly on the 18 years I spent with one company, which I really didn't appreciate as much as I should have. I left that job voluntarily, for what seemed like a great opportunity, but in retrospect it was the biggest career mistake I've ever made. There's a lot to be said for boring stability and decent benefits. Just a cautionary note as you look for your next job. (I'm great at dispensing the good advice--not so good at following it myself
  6. Seeing Portugal the Man tonight. No idea what to expect, but I've heard recommendations and the tickets were just $20.
  7. Ya got me. But HMD to you too!
  8. Here's a very intriguing little teaser. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0xzJtkBVyrEVlMteTlYSnc0Q1k Those are Glenn's children. And this was Mariana Neri's request for the covers show at Solid Sound.
  9. I still like Bright Eyes. The bloom is off the rose a little, but I was crazy about them at first and I still like listening to some of their music at times. Conor Oberst will be performing with Dawes at Newport and I'm looking forward to hearing that. I've seen Bright Eyes/Oberst 3 times. The first two were excellent shows but the most recent one kind of sucked. He kept going on and on about some woo woo political bs. Assuming U2 is considered critically well regarded, I'll throw their names in the ring for bands I don't like. There are many others, including most of My Morning Jacket, and
  10. I'm sure you heard Wilco's rendition of "The Boys are Back in Town" from last year's Solid Sound, right? I think they did a great version of that, and it was the perfect opener to that show. OK, back to your regularly scheduled topic. . . . I actually can't think of anything I would hate listening to, although I sort of hate myself for NOT hating A1A by Jimmy Buffet and American Idiot and the soundtrack from Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. I don't consciously choose to listen to these albums much, but when a song pops up on shuffle I like it and might listen to a few from those albums.
  11. Ticket is no longer available--a friend is coming along for the ride. She's getting one more chance to fall under Jeff Tweedy's spell!
  12. How's this for a memory? One of my favorites from all three festivals http://youtu.be/q3vgh9oFXww
  13. Bump bump! Still desperately seeking one 3-day pass for my friend, who would prefer not to get gouged on Stubhub for $325. Even if you don't have one, if you know of any good leads I'd really appreciate the help.
  14. I know, but it would be such a shame, and it seems less likely since they have a track record with Brendan Canty. Also, this is just a teensy tiny gripe, but all those big ass cameras at Solid Sound last year really blocked my view! I was thinking, well, it's all for a greater cause, but if the footage is never used it would have all been a fair amount of aggravation for nothing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
  15. The people filming were led by Brendan Canty, who did the Ashes DVD and also the Tweedy solo Sunken Treasure DVD. I was on the periphery of some conversation with him at the festival and at that time I don't think there was a clear idea of how the footage was going to be used. subsequently I heard some rumors of a DVD.
  16. Hey, I'll go you one better. I've literally been in a prison all morning. I work for the Red Cross and we're having a blood drive in a medium security prison in June and I was there to promote the upcoming drive. Grim, grim place. Pretty much the polar opposite of what I think this fest will feel like.
  17. Yeah, this is probably the best title for the thread. Maybe the mods can merge this one with the OH MY GOD!!! one. (The exuberance of which, by the way, I completely relate to. I felt the same way when the Wilco announcement was made, even though I had already bought my pass.) Edit: Oh, by the way, more thrills for the Deadhead contingent. Further will be headlining on Friday night.
  18. Some wag over on Facebook posted "There's not enough ganja in the world for this festival."
  19. Ooh, they're good. I'd love to hear your thoughts after the show.
  20. Reminder--tonight's the season finale on Parks and Rec. It's the big Unity concert. https://twitter.com/unity_concert/media Last chance to see Jeff the TV star for a while. And don't forget Yo La Tengo as Bobby Knight Ranger.
