  1. More, please! All you folks who were lucky enough to be there, we'd love to hear details. You're entitled to sleep in today and get your typing fingers warmed up this morning, but I hope we get to hear some more color commentary once you've had your morning coffee!
  2. Oh, Brianne and Wendy, I am so sorry to hear you can't make the show! That is such a bummer. I guess Chicago in the winter is always a dicey bet, but who could have predicted this awful storm? I really am so sorry for you both!!
  3. When I was buying tickets for the two shows--on Friday, 2/14 and Saturday, 2/15--I accidentally purchased two tickets for the Friday night show. I don't know whether the shows are sold out yet but if tradition holds they will soon. This is a GA ticket that cost me $75 + fees. It is being held for me at Will Call. I will be lining up early for the show and can meet you in line. I will sell for a flat $75 or best offer. PM me here or email me at dkyrus at gmail dot com. Or text me at 757-287-9871. Thanks.
  4. Yes, thanks Wendy. Actually, I'll be seeing The Autumn Defense in February and I could totally see John and Pat working up a nice tribute. I think they could pull off the close harmonies.
  5. Here's a link to the show. The track is labeled You're Really Gone. http://sooutoftune.org/concerts/252
  6. It's called a google news alert, set up to run weekly. Not all that unusual. The one who's the subject of interest on this fansite. As opposed to the other one.
  7. Who in the world would know that, NoJ??? Only obsessed fans who google jeff tweedy in Google news once a week! No, seriously, I think the OTHER Jeffrey Tweedy is the president of Sean John clothing or something in New York. So he's even marginally connected to the world of music. And Scot? That's OUR Jeff Tweedy's middle name. You're welcome.
  8. No, Festheads is NOT reliable. They simply pick up whatever the dates were the previous year and put 'em out there to tantalize and frustrate you. They had it wrong last year, as I recall. At least this time they're saying "projected dates." I don't believe it. I wish, but I don't think it's happening this year. A friend even called the Holiday Inn and was told that it won't be held this year. I'd take that with a grain of salt, since I doubt they've been told anything explicitly, but I do feel like some kind of a definitive announcement would have been made by now if it were being held.
  9. Got the shirt yesterday. Nice quality, fits great and it's a cool little collector's item.
  10. For those who would like to hear this show, it's now streaming at http://sooutoftune.org/concerts/1191. I was curious to hear how Jeff read Lotti's message--whether he would attempt a Swedish accent. I'm glad that at least one of these shows was taped. Even though we couldn't all be there, the great quality of the recording along with the detailed descriptions of the shows gives those of us who couldn't be there a pretty good idea of the tone of these special shows.
  11. Methinks our esteemed moderator has a bit too much time on her hands!
  12. Actually, I don't think this sounds very much like Wilco. I do see some similarities but the lyrics are kind of boring, the vocalist sounds sort of like Conor Oberst, and the song seems to just meander. But still, my hat's off to your girlfriend for recognizing a band with even superficial similarities to Wilco. I almost never hear anything that I can compare them to.
  13. I chose animal transmogrification and now I find I am also gifted with the ability to make correct change. Well, the possibilities are endless. Since I know I'll be standing in lines at the Vic in the blistering cold in a couple of months, I think I'll turn into a polar bear. Not only will I be impervious to the cold, I'll be able to provide cuddly warmth for my fellow hardcore fans. (No more need for copious amounts of coffee spiked with booze for us!) But that might get a little bulky once I get inside, so I'll be changing identities based on the setlist. I'll provide some amusement for Je
  14. I'm happy to chime in on the chorus of gratitude for your detailed reporting, Paul. And I'm always so impressed--and grateful--that you put up such thorough reviews so quickly after the show ends. Like worldrecordplayer says, the first thing I do when I wake up is look in the After the Show thread. Instant gratification!
  15. Even though I'm not there, I'm having anticipatory sadness for when this spectacular run of shows is over. I'm so happy I got to see the ones I did and yet still ridicuously jealous for you lucky people seeing the Largo shows. But mainly--boo hoo hoo--they're almost over!! Jeff has definitely earned himself a nice restful holiday.
  16. Flying would definitely come in handy. But then there'd be no need for roadtrips, so I choose Animal Transmogrification Girl. Some days, when the stresses of work and personal crap pile up, it would be nice to be a well-loved housecat, lolling around and stretching in the sunny spot on the sofa. Or a happy-go-lucky dog, living totally in the moment. Yeah, that sounds nice right about now.
  17. I missed the beginning. Is that when he mentioned working with Spencer? Maybe Spencer will sit in during the Vic shows in Chicago. That would be fun! Oh yeah, and he really did sound a little under the weather didn't he? That bit at the very end where he just sank back into the cushions of the chair. Awww.
  18. Thanks for posting this--it was probably not an easy thing to do. The clapper was sitting almost directly behind me and it was pretty annoying, but I honestly didn't look back to see the person's face. I can imagine, though, getting carried away and becoming unaware of your surroundings. I've had a couple of experiences at shows where I'd had a little too much to drink and might have been a bit "looser" with my feelings than I should be. I would say it's not worth losing any sleep over, but the clapper should file this away under Lessons Learned and Behavior Not To Repeat. That may not have
  19. Ditto what Sandy said. Worked for me too. of course tickets are non-refundable so I now have an extra general admission tickets for Friday if anybody wants it let me know
  20. I got regular for the first night but gold for the second. It goes without saying but if anyone got gold for the first night and is having second thoughts, PM me please!!
  21. Same here. Just booked my flights this morning. I guess one good thing about these shows being earlier in the year than last year is that I saved about $150 on my flights compared to last year.
  22. Chicken King (the newly minted Chicago restaurant with a hard to categorize, experimental style of chicken that rose from the ashes of seminal alt-country critical darling Uncle Chicken) and featuring Chicken Cure (the Jewish mother's famous soup that's good for what ails ya) OK, I'm done. Next!
  23. Hot damn!!! Thank you for sharing your Valentine with us, Sue !
  24. Someone doesn't like Gilbert Grape? I love that movie!
