"All My Loathin"

I probably have 50 favorite Beatles tunes, but the one I always have to hear when I'm in a Beatles mood is "In My Life". That tune truly is "perfect".. The brilliant chord progression with the augmented 5th bass note (or whatever you want to call it for you music theory heads).. The piano solo.. The vocals.. It's just a brilliant song.

What's the price of gas where you are?
lamradio replied to Twisted Acres's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Greenville, SC - Paid $3.20 this morning on my way to work, and it's been over three dollars for several weeks now. But I'm sure that's still pretty cheap compared to a lot of places around the country (or world for that matter.. hate to see what you UK folks are paying). -
That's exactly how I feel. There aren't enough hard facts to convince me that the earth is warming. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but either way, it's always good to be as "Green" as possible.. Reduce, reuse, recycle..

I'm sure Jeff was delighted to have accompaniment for him to solo. I can't wait to hear him play that kind of a solo on acoustic. Sounds like you did great... Nice job. I'd give my left nut to be in your shoes.

Happy birthday man. Really appreciate all you do at your excellent website.

Even though I posted in the thread (I was just being a smartass) I will not be attending.. But believe me, if St. Louis wasn't an 11 hour drive away, I'd be there..
-
With all of their touring lately, I don't know how they would have time to write new songs.. Allthough I remember in a previous thread, that someone asked John about the ETA on a new album and he said it would be sooner than you think.

Great thread. -Wilco in Charleston on Aug 7th (and hopefully another show or two before the year is out) -Shows with my band (Especially this weekend at the legendary ESSO in Clemson) -nascar allstar race (yep, I'm a nascar fan) -Trips with my family -holidays with my family (my boys ages 3 and 4 are really starting to understand/get into Christmas) -buying a house!

Sounds like it was an unforgettable night indeed. Maybe someday I'll get to make one of these shows .. For now, I'll just have to enjoy the pics and look forward to the audio. Vibes to all who supported the charity. I'm sure Jeff, Sue and everyone else involved made it well worth it.

Remind me why I haven't moved to Chicago yet?

I used to chew the hell out of this stuff when I played little league.

What's the rarest record or memorabilia you have from any band?

I saw Les Paul perform in NYC in the 90's.. He signed my brochure. I was up there auditioning for music school, and he signed it "Keep pickin!".. Very nice/down to earth guy. Plus it's cool to have the authentic signature that is on THE Les Paul guitar.. -
The lyrics in that song are probably the worst lyrics in the history of music... "And you show up late for school cause You think your really cool when you're, On drugs" Just read the whole song..
-
I agree.. And I'm pretty sure all of the tracks are available on the Singles Compilation on the Owl & Bear site anyway.
-
I agree.. IMO, one of their top 5 best songs.

I really don't have anything (I'm a digital music white guy) but there is a box full of records at my grandparents that I'm sure are worth thousands.. Several Beatles albums, Rolling stones, CCR, all in mint condition.. -
Yeah for the most part. Except for the last couple of songs, I had a crowd of dancing hippies in front of me. I was on the second row stage right, and during the encore, security didn't care anymore.. That kind of annoyed me a little, but I didn't care too much because I was high on Wilco (and had a few beers by that point)..

So is this it for the handful of additional cool/exciting gigs in August? Or will they be posted later? Or am I being impatient?

On NPR this morning, there was a story about the guy who invented the cell phone (Doctor Martin Cooper) and Walkin was playing in the backround. Very clever song choice.

I'm a little surprised that there hasn't been any announcements about it. Maybe it means there aren't going to be any openers. To me, that's a good thing.. That means a longer set for Wilco.
