  1. I heard an interview with Wayne Coyne and I really like his take on it. Music is out there everywhere now.. If you want an album bad enough, you can find it for free.. Since it's so widely available (even to those folks that can't afford to pay for it) it helps spread the word about bands.. And maybe those people that didn't pay will get hooked for life and see them in concert, buy a t-shirt, etc... You can also come up with creative ways to release music like The Flaming Lips have. Release a gummy candy filled skull with a USB flash drive inside that contains four tracks... Personally
  2. Also, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger is opening. Anyone else familiar with their music? Haven't heard too much but from what I have it's pretty good... Sean Lennon's voice does have a resemblance to his fathers.
  3. Going to see them perform a "special performance of The Soft Bulletin and more" in Atlanta in May. My first lips concert... Stoked!
  4. I'm really looking forward to this.. For the record, my gut tells me this album has the potential to be a masterpiece... Maybe I feel that way after watching the little sneak video on his website.. Maybe after reading the description on the pitchfork site and how it took three years to make... I haven't been this excited about a new record in a while..
  5. This is good indeed.. Some of the tunes are a little bland IMO, but there are three or four excellent ones.. "Paul and Jon" is brilliant.. I've really been getting into this classic 60's sounding country lately.. It's what country would still sound like today if it weren't for pseudo-country pop stars like Keith Urban etc. that are basically playing 70's rock.. Bad 70's rock that is...
  6. Sorry, just seeing this. It is kind of a bummer.. But there's just no time right now.. But to be honest, it's been kind of nice taking a break.. I've been playing solo (have a solo gig in a couple weeks) and it's been great exploring other musical directions. I even plan to release a solo EP where I record/perform all of the instruments. The band will be back though in some shape or form.. Thanks for thinkin about us. Edit: And sorry to thread hijack.. Nice cover pianoblood!
  7. I hope so... WE WANT PANTHER! WE WANT PANTHER!
  8. I'd choose facebook. A multi-billion dollar company that doesn't cost it's users a penny.
  9. Justin Townes Earle - The Ghost of Virginia The song is about a ghost train from the Civil War. This part always gives me chills: Ah but some say she wrecked and she rides these rails hopin' one day that she'll get it right Others say she roams out picking up lost souls and carryin 'em down to Carolina
  10. I support Darth Buscemi for President, 2012.
  11. Just watched this film for the 3rd time last night... This is definitely one of my favorites of all time. It's also very underrated... Unfortunately a western without a lot of action doesn't appeal to most people. But this movie has everything.. Acting, beautiful cinematography, writing, etc... Of course Brad Pitt is excellent in it. If anyone is going to play a troubled, depressed outlaw it would be him. I also became a Casey Affleck fan after seeing this movie.. There's just something about him that creeps me out (in a good way). The dialogue in the movie is also brilliant.. It may
  12. Really hoping to catch him one of these days... All of his records are excellent (I'm stuck on Yuma right now). He's really opened my eyes to more rootsy music.
  13. I only keep a few albums on my MP3 player at one time. I set myself this rule of thumb a while ago when I kept running of space... I'm sure you can keep more than a few, but if you haven't listened to something a few weeks or so, back it up to your computer. And I'll second bleedorange's suggestion on backing up your entire drive onto an external drive... Any file that you can't afford to lose should always be on two different drives in case one of them fails... It's not a matter of if a hard drive will fail, it's when...
  14. How was the show? The wife and I are thinking about going to see him next Sat in Asheville.. Even though Mascis is a legend, we'll be going to see Kurt.
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztTa7KCRi8M This version is actually better than the Buddy Holly version.
  16. Great pictures! Punk is still very much alive.. I'm not a big fan of it but it's hard to book a show with my band around where I live without there being at least one punk band on the bill.
  17. It's crazy how I recognized his voice instantly from the movie La Bamba.. He played Buddy Holly.
  18. Now THAT sounds cool. Especially since you don't have to have one of those i-droids or smart telophones to use it... Nice!
  19. I killed this thread three years ago, I will resurrect it. The last text I received: "Hi Logan! How are you? I will take good care of your daddy when he come to Vietnam. Don't worry please!" No lie, I just received this text a few minutes ago.. I get wrong number texts all the time, but this one takes the cake..
  20. This album is actually starting to grow on me.. It's because my wife heard it and she absolutely loves it.. It's all I've heard around the house lately so it's growing on me.
  21. I actually really like "Woods". I think it's a very creative use of auto-tune as opposed to using it to cover up horrible singing like most other "artists" use it for. But yeah, I'm really looking forward to this record.
  22. I've been addicted to this lately. Cinnamon with half/half. Da bomb..... (did I actually just type Da bomb?) As far as brand's, lately I've been getting Seattle's best Level 5 Regular. It's very bold and dark. It's like the Guinness of coffee.
  23. I like it.. It's pretty happy and poppy. A good Spring record.
  24. He charges that because he can... And I guarantee every show will be a packed house...
