Hey Dan My high-school-age nieces from South Bend are planning to go with a bunch of friends. This is really disappointing news, though. They love The Decemberists and this show sounded perfect for them (free, no school the next day, etc). Dang. I'm not sure they'll make the trip now because of the rain.

This is tough - Wilco will be in Louisville on Sep 21, and I believe there are more Wilco dates to come. So I'll wait a few days and see what else materializes on Wilcoworld's tour page.

No, I'm pretty sure you blame me. This whole thing is weird - I was at Pitchfork in Chicago on July 14 and did not arrive home until midnight. But this could be time zone discrepancy. I did check the board when I got home, like I always do. At any rate, this could be due to a random feature unbeknownst to me that when (if moderator status) you are at the forum index, one click on the envelope at the left (the colored ones) -- LOCKS a thread. Who knew? So the obviously randomly selected locking of those two threads could have happened with a stray mouse pointer click. I apologize for t

Hey DawgSong - thanks for that update on what happened at the 7/10 show -- I had read about it the following morning, so before I took off for Louisville 7/11 I called the theater, and they were already loaded in. So off I went. And it was such a great show. I've still got "Magnolia Mountain" running through my head (I especially loved the gorgeous 5-part harmonies on that one). So glad I could grab it from the archives - it's a good one. Man, I can't seem to get enough of RA live these days.

I think it was "Horoscopic.Amputation.Honey" from Quicksand/Cradlesnakes. The 4-piece horn section were 4 of the talented multi-instrumentalists from Chicago's The Bitter Tears who had joined Califone on the last stretch of their tour promoting Roots and Crowns that just ended in June. There is one more chance to see Califone in a much longer set on Sat 8/11/07 in Chicago at West Fest (7:00-8:15). WaronWar, don't miss this! It'll be your last chance for a while. RE: Iron & Wine: Besides Leroy Bach, the Iron & Wine set also sported 2 of the Califone guys -- Jim Bec

Oh, they know all about it. You will see Jeff Tweedy wearing a bright orange "Bring Wilco To Fort Wayne" button on March 3, 2007, in this PDF file report on page 3.

They were just in Indy a few weeks ago, so that's probably too soon to go again. What I meant was, if they are in Louisville, then they're in the vicinity of Indiana. So, hey Wilco! Head on north to Fort Wayne! Fort Wayne loves you!!! The Embassy is a beautiful place for a Wilco show! (We've been over that before, though. They know we want them to come.) Seriously, though - I keep hoping for the little grass roots "Bring Wilco To Fort Wayne" project to pay off one of these days, if not that one. That is a sweet date, though - a Saturday night. You all could come if was on a Sa

There really is a VW ad with blackfolk and no Wilco music

Well, the forum seems to have eaten Sir Stewart's thread (originally titled "why does wilco hate black people") that I moved to TTL. So that entire function is f'd up. -

The thread was NOT deleted. It was moved to TTL section and I did not leave a fowarding "arrow" to it because that function has been problematic here at the forum lately (just FYI) and I don't trust it right now, so I didn't want to risk actually deleting it by accident due to that weirdness. Sir Stewart: That thread was completely off course and the title had been changed. Why do you do that, just to be funny? Yes. But now you want to be serious again? Okay. If you want to have an honest and serious discourse on how Wilco is involved in this far-stretching controversy, go for it. -
I love that Rockpile record. I've always wished Wilco would cover "Pet You And Hold You" from it -- as I listen to it now, it seems so Wilcoey. And Cryptique - 9/25 ... I'm there!

And if they'll be in Louisville Friday night 9/21, where will they be Saturday night 9/22?????

Me too! 4/8/06 LR show was awesome as well. Sadly, no. But I have faith it will ... someday. C'mon Calvin College! 4/6/07 was the funniest one in my experience.

Thank God for that last-noted scientific discovery -- I'll be needing that bad-memory-erasing drug now.

Now, that does sound good!

Congrats on the newbie! The picture with big bro is priceless.

Steve Albini "dishes" on a poker forum?

I found a link to that forum at Stereogum last night, and reading it took a bit of time, but hey, I didn't need to sleep. If it was boring I would have stopped. In fact, it was very interesting and candid. He is well spoken and outspoken. It was kind of like he got to create his own interview (even though he probably would not have started an "ask me" thread had his identity not been outed by the charity snafu), but the fact that he answered most of the questions asked of him was pretty impressive. Even had a few Wilco/Tweedy comments, with Albini being a Chicagoan and all. So I w -

I always liked it when I was "I Miss the Innocence" because that rings true for me at this point in my life. Now I'm "I Must Be High" when I don't really do that anymore! Enjoy your "Misunderstood" time ... you won't be there long at this rate, Sarchi!

Hey, jokey dirty talk is fine, but yours got a bit, um, more like explicit dirty talk - - not okay . Keep geeking out on the band all you want, without going X-rated, okay?
-
Oh I know it was, but I made a clean sweep of the whole issue. No worries!
-
In case some of you are missing your threads, I deleted them because of inappropriate content (the obsessing part is one thing, but what I had to delete went way past that, trust me). Let's drop that kind of talk now, okay? If the board wasn't all weird and compromised right now, I'd be PM'ing you in private, but please behave. This is a PUBLIC forum.

Speaking of Iron & Wine, Owl posted this over at Pastrysharp (Califone) ... http://www.thestate.com/106/story/104958.html

If you're referring to "Emotionalism" -- it's the Avett Brothers' new one. They are a great band, really fun to see live.
