  1. I too had a similar "going through the motions" experience with Farrar back in '02 when he was on tour with Mark Spencer. I have not enjoyed any of his releases very much since then and have not even really considered seeing him live again either.
  2. Man I hope not or that would instantly become the most redeeming quality of that book for me. I really had a hard time making it through that a couple years ago in college.
  3. There seems to be the annual Top 5 or Top 10 list, but what surprised/disappointed you this year? Pleasant Surprises: Arcade Fire - "Neon Bible" - I honestly did not think they would be able to even come within shooting distance of "Funeral." I'm so glad they proved me wrong. Radiohead - "In Rainbows" - I'll admit it: I hated Radiohead prior to this release. I really have never been able to stand anything they've done. This one just missed my Top 10 for the year. Dr. Dog - "We All Belong" - Saw them open for Wilco and the rest is history. Spoon - "Ga x5" - Wasn't sure what to expect
  4. I was hoping this would remind me (without putting on Blue or Pinkerton) of why I used to like Weezer. It failed. Miserably.
  5. Car Wheels > The National's entire discography > Lucinda's discography minus Car Wheels If that makes sense.
  6. The title tells what this is all about. The girlfriend and her aunt (!) would like tickets for Saturday and I didn't find out until it was too late this morning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Matt Mulcahy mmulcahy06@hotmail.com
  7. New Pornographers - Myriad Harbour The National - Fake Empire Spoon - Black Like Me Wilco - You Are My Face Those 4 are for sure, but the 5th one is a rough spot. So many great tunes from Okkervil, Arcade Fire, Dr Dog, The Shins, Feist, and The White Stripes that I dunno...
  8. The way I see it, a normal Wilco show is anywhere from 90 to 120 minutes. All of their studio output (including Mermaid Avenue material) is roughly 6 hours and 40 minutes. Spread over 5 nights, this averages to 80 minutes for each show. If their goal is to play everything, then they'll still have some time left for the b-sides/soundtrack tunes (Thanks I Get, Magazine, Just A Kid, Cars Can't Escape, Kicking TV, etc.). Let's just keep our fingers crossed! I know my wishlist consists of mostly B-sides and soundtrack stuff: Blasting Fonda Just A Kid (preferably with full back-up vocals from
  9. I just tried again and there's still at least one available. Keep trying guys!
  10. For me, it came up as none available right away, but courtesy of a page refresh I was able to score a 5-day for myself. Sweeeeeeeeet.
  11. If I remember that show correctly, that was in '02, my 2nd Wilco show. Awesome stuff.
  12. The question I have is: Is the Riv going to be GA for all nights? I would assume so, but you never know. Since I'm planning on the 5-day and various friends will be rotating in and out of my "crew" each night, I'm kinda hoping it's GA so we can hang together.
  13. This really makes me wish I could spare 100 bucks right now. Sadly, money is very tight in these parts. I'll be eagerly awaiting reports late that night though.
  14. For apparently not touring as much in '08, they're off to quite a busy (or normal) start.
  15. Date says March 8, 2008 now.
  16. Here's an mp3 with material from Louie CK in 2001, followed by Dane Cook's release several years later. The mp3 has Louie's joke followed by Dane's take on the same joke. Linky And I've said it before, I'll say it again: Dane Cook is the Creed of comedy.
  17. Me either until In Rainbows. For whatever reason, this album is really resonating with me. Don't get me wrong, I still find Yorke's vocals to be by far the worst part of this band and, at times, a complete turnoff. But I do enjoy this album immensely.
  18. Here's to hoping that gets busted out live...and subsequently taped.
  19. I saw it in Borders yesterday and almost picked it up. It looked to be about 300 pages A-man.
  20. I enjoyed their set in Chicago on the 30th. It was only about 65 minutes long, but I was glad it ended when it did. Their whole "we're the greatest band in the world" shtick started to lose its luster after about 50 minutes or so. That being said, it was incredibly high energy and they did get in roughly 20 songs, so no complaints from this concert-goer.
  21. Must maintain a 1.0 share ratio on funfile, but you aren't able to upload any new torrents unless you donate. Looks like this will be a "hit & run"-type membership for me...
  22. Question: Wouldn't this be the Decemberists' managements' fault rather than Colin & the gang? Not saying that makes it any better, but one would have to think.
  23. I have the album already and...wow. "Disappointment" is the word of choice. I feel myself comparing it to the most recent Strokes effort. It seems like they're trying to expand their sound into other genres...and failing miserably at it. The Hives are one of the few bands I'm willing to let slide with their sound. 99% of bands I'm hoping they show some evolution; with the Hives, I'd prefer to get 3 or 4 really good albums before they split.
  24. It took a looooong time to grow on me. It went from "meh" to "yeah, okay...on occasion." Not a bad band, but not spectacular.
