  1. Ahh, great. Thanks. Definitely going to the "pro" column. Now, how much am I willing to pay for better seats? I'm thinking of holding off a bit since there seems to be a ton available on secondary sites.
  2. Trying to decide if it is worth buying tickets for the Dec 9 show at Mohegan Sun. Could those who've gone please chime in?
  3. JTE was great! Someone should take Wilco Me's offer and run with it! Tift Merritt was terrific as well.
  4. Justin Townes Earle at Infinity Hall in Norfolk, CT.
  5. Not too much tree damage in my neighborhood. Last year's freak October snowstorm took care of the weak trees and branches. The power pole in front of our house snapped on Monday though. It was leaning over the road at a 45 degree angle until they took care of it last night. We still aren't expecting power back for another 24-48 hours though. At least the kids are back in school, and our generator covers just about everything we need except for the washing machine. So, we are pretty much fine. It's really bad for the people on the shoreline who had just finished rebuilding from the last
  6. Still without power in NW Connecticut. We have a generator, so it's not a huge problem. It's getting old, though.
  7. School was already called off for the kids and myself for tomorrow. Husband is working from home. We're hunkering down with some homemade gnocci in walnut sauce, a bottle of wine, and The Amazing Race.
  8. Last night, Blitzen Trapper in Hartford, CT.
  9. I honestly don't know. I always thought it was just a pizza joint!
  10. Roger Daltrey vs. Pete Townshend Dickey Betts vs. all of the Allman Bros.
  11. I don't know. Cafe Nine is in New Haven which is about 45 min. away. Arch St is definitely pushing for bigger names; I'm seeing Blitzen Trapper there in Oct. The most interesting venue around is Infinity Hall http://www.infinityhall.com/ which is opening a new, bigger, but still intimate venue in Hartford. It's great news because Hartford needs something that size, right now we have to travel to Northampton, MA for a lot of music.
  12. He's also playing 12/21 at the Arch St. Tavern in Hartford with Julien Lage.

I would think that if you can bring chairs and coolers, a backpack is probably ok. I'm thinking of bringing a chair, only because it has a pouch on the back that can hold my raincoat. I have no intention of sitting whatsoever.
  14. An email today said that the brewery will not be open for tours. Too bad.
  15. No, it's a cordoned off area adjacent to both. Imagine a triangle. At least that's how it was last year for the Avetts. I really felt bad for the campers with the rain that night!
  16. I saw the Avetts there last year and besides the torrential downpour it was great. It is essentially a field on a small hill with a stage at the bottom. Just an FYI, the beer is STRONG, as my friend realized a little too late. They had good food vendors. The camping was right there between the parking and the field. But, hopefully the weather will be nice. The brewery is only 10 years old or so, maybe a little older, but it is beautiful. I don't remember if they were open for tours that day, but it is fun to walk through and see the facility. Ommegang is a true to form Belgian style bre
  17. So, if I was reading that correctly, all photographers, videographers, or audio recorders have to give a copy to the event management? And they can do anything with it they want?
  18. I'm OK with not having Wilco do festivals. Sets are too short. Even though I am going to the Vibes on Sunday. $20 for CT residents? Sure, why not? Avetts!
  19. We came up with the same issue with a hotel (b&b, actually) that was holding a room for us because we had used them 2x before. But they came back to us with a higher price and 3 night min. I poked around and found a house with 3 bedrooms in Williamstown for the same price AND they threw Sunday night in there for free. I wasn't going to stay Sunday night, but I might now!
  20. Definitely revisit Darjeeling. It is my favorite. To me the development of the character and family dynamics are on par with Tenenbaums. Try to see it with the Hotel Chevalier short prequel. Also, my husband and I were Richie and Margot Tenenbaum for Halloween.
  21. I agree. I also came up with a way to connect Wilco and Wes Anderson when it comes to appeal. In Anderson's films, there is a juxtaposition of wit and sadness. I'm thinking of the surprise of Richie attempting suicide in Tenenbaums or the boy drowning in Darjeeling. I love how he can put all of that into one film, when most mainstream films fit into easily defined genres; horror, rom-com, action, whatever. Wilco can also pack several differing styles into one piece. Like what David Fricke in "I am Trying to Break Your Heart" says, something like, There's quiet there, there's loud there,
  22. But, didn't Darjeeling Limited come out after The Life Aquatic? Darjeeling was less rooted in Andersonville and more in reality than Aquatic, I think. I'm only saying that maybe it isn't exactly a straight linear path toward more stylized work. I love everything he's done, though, stylized or not. I think the only thing that keeps me from loving Moonrise 100% is that I didn't love the girl's acting.
  23. I'm surprised there are no opinions of Moonrise Kingdom.
  24. Newport tix came today via USPS; which is interesting because the receipt I have says they are will call. I got a tracking number from Frontgate that says something is coming via UPS; I'm hoping that is the Ommegang tickets.
