  1. Mmm...the Bridgeport Black Strap Stout. And yay for Pyramid, I once spent a fine weekend at the Gorge drinking Pyramid Apricot Weizen.
  2. Seems the only thing worse than Bud Light is Bud Light Lime. I haven't tried it myself, but judging by its consumers I'm pretty sure it's the new Zima. I went to a festival of barrel-aged beer the other weekend. Fairly amazing. http://www.illinoisbeer.com/ If I'm out at a bar, it pleases me greatly to find these on tap: Left Hand Milk Stout Surly Furious Lagunitas Brown Shugga
  3. I don't think they are coming to town...but that Metro show was one of my favorite shows that year. Did you see the opener, The Acorn? They were really good too.
  4. Nice...thanks for posting, Wendy! Did you see that Pavement picked them to play at their ATP?
  5. I was at the simulcast for this one but haven't seen the actual program yet...curious to see what they cut out and what made it into the show. Here was the full setlist: Main Set: Walking The Cow, Just Breathe (with strings), The End (with strings), The Fixer, Johnny Guitar, Amongst The Waves, Unthought Known, Army Reserve, Driven To Tears, Do the Evolution, Got Some Encore: Lukin (with strings), Red Mosquito w/ Ben Harper, Inside Job, Life Wasted Reprise>>>Betterman, Gonna See My Friend, Porch Encore II: Crazy Mary, Star Spangled Banner
  6. Hello, I'm looking for three tickets on the floor for the Overture Center show in February. I know this sounds incredibly greedy, but this would be my parents' very first Wilco show, and I'd really like to treat them to the best seats I can find. If anyone has any to spare, I'd be grateful! Thanks. tigermountainpeasant at gmail dot com
  7. Yeah, I should have been more specific instead of just complaining You are dead on about the vocals, Wendy...they were all having problems with pitch. I don't think the song choice was a good one either, and I couldn't hear the Roots at all. Oh well.
  8. Can I post my pics on here? Why, so I can.
  9. Agreed, agreed. Saturday's show was one of the most surreal events I've witnessed. Someone said (and I concur) that it's probably the closest thing we'll get to a NYE show from Pearl Jam. Just really loose and fun. Bugs and Sweet Lew? I mean come on!
  10. So as some of you probably know, Pearl Jam is playing a string of four dates this week to close out the Spectrum in Philadelphia. This Saturday's Halloween show will be the last performance ever in the building as it's being demolished soon after. And apparently at last night's show, Ed said that the band was going to play "everything they know" this week, wrapping up at 2 am on Halloween. Needless to say I just got a bit more excited to leave for Philly....
  11. Exciting! Been waiting for this one.
  12. I'm going. Lincoln Hall is lovely and sounds great; hope you enjoy it!
  13. I think I'm glad I read this thread? Now I feel all guilty for having a couple LRS boots...
  14. Did any other Chicagoans catch the show last night? Absolutely brilliant. I've never really been much of a Ben Gibbard fan, but I thought he was great last night. His voice seems well suited to the alt-country stuff; I never would have guessed. He and Jay seemed to have an easy give-and-take, too. I've never seen Jay smile so much; hell, I've never really seen him smile...last night I swear I saw teeth. Jay's more rockin' numbers were definitely the crowd pleasers, and they had a multi-instrumentalist (Hammond/pedal steel/slide guitar) who stole the show; he was really talented.
  15. Yeah. I respect what he does, it's just not my thing anymore. Regardless, I'm sure it will be a lovely night of music.
  16. I think the church is going to be a pretty setting but I'm also pretty sick of Andrew Bird.
  17. I saw them at ACL and was pretty disappointed...I like Queens, but it just sounded like Josh Homme and the Superfriends. If John or Dave had any influence on the songs, I couldn't hear it. Oh, and it was LOUD. That's probably the best thing I can say about the set.
  18. BWAHAHAHA, Wendy! That's awesome. "As you can see at 00:32, after being hollered at by the third row folks, the OP moves back...and to the left. Back...and to the left."
  19. Let's go to the tape.
