  1. That wasn't the busy week, that was the 42 oz margaritas...
  2. It was called "Bill's Place" Dan went on Saturday morning around 3 am. We left right after they finished up and got home around 6.
  3. I saw him over the weekend. The new songs weren't as good live as I'd hoped, but he had a horn section with him (any idea if they're doing all the dates on the tour?) so "No Choice in the Matter" sounded fantastic.
  4. There's also a new song called "Dear Wife" on it, which is nice to have if you're a completist.
  5. Saw him at a hippie house party in Austin over the weekend. Tequila-fueled set tore the roof off the mutha.
  6. I saw them a couple times over the weekend at SXSW. They're still monstrous live, but were missing the drummer/vocalist Simone Felice, which was quite the bummer. They're derivative as all hell, but their energy live makes them great fun - they're a can't-miss show for me.
  7. Would it be kosher to make another thread for this? If not, I'll just post here. Any Chicago area folks, please come out, it should be a great time! What: Please join us as we celebrate the re-release of Pearl Jam's seminal album Ten and its debut on Rock Band 2! 8. I just put in a request for Toyota Park...we shall see. That show might be a nice post-Lolla pick-me-up.
  9. Hoping to get into Dan's show tomorrow night at the Parish. I hear Two Tone Tommy's in town for SXSW too...this could get interesting!
  10. Occasionally. I don't mind it, but it's always more fun with friends.
  11. No encore in Tulsa the other weekend. But it was a solid 2 hours, maybe a little more.
  12. I agree with your assessment 100%...really enjoyed this show, much more than any Keys show I saw last year. He was fantastic. My only quibble was that I wish "When the Night Comes" had retained the dreamy quality it has on record; the performance Friday was a little too lively for my tastes. Very excited to catch these guys again at SXSW next week. I spoke to Patrick afterward and he said he's really enjoying being a "utility" percussionist on this tour
  13. Top five consistently excellent bands I've traveled great distances for and will certainly never miss when they come through town: My Morning Jacket Wilco Ryan Adams & the Cardinals Drive-by Truckers Pearl Jam
  14. I vote yoga. He's a little too cutesy for my liking.
  15. Kings of Leon are headlining too. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/kings-...003949140.story The headliners for a festival of Lolla's size are almost necessarily older bands, because those are the bands that have had the time to create a fanbase big enough to draw 50,000some people to Grant Park. And yet another reason why I don't understand KoL as a headliner.
  16. I think you're right; in years past when Friday was Don't Look Back, there were only three bands on Friday night. The lineup isn't doing much for me just yet, but I'm sure I'll warm up to it by July.
  17. I'm kind of feeling the same way. It's not blowing me away just yet. Don't really think "Magpie to the Morning" is the standout track, either - I'm digging "Fever".
  18. Note that big gap between New York and Seattle. Lolla anyone?
  19. I'm meeting some people at Cullen's, which is pretty much next door, I think. Might be a nice place for everyone to meet up.
  20. Was already excited to see Dan on this tour, but now I'm ecstatic: http://www.rollingstone.com/blogs/smokings...-up-with-my.php
