I think three stars is about right. I agree with the reviewer on the highlights - "No Choice in the Matter" and "Cigarettes and Wine", especially.

Words to live by.

Oh, that's quite nice.

Apparently they'll be playing the Sasquatch festival in May, according to an interview on Facebook.
-
That sounds kind of cool. Was it?

Thank you. Jebus.

I've heard she does "To Make You Feel My Love" - was that one of them?

Golden Age was rough. Yipes. Agree that Dancing Choose was a slight improvement.

I got chills -
That was easily the best night of the Residency, IMNSHO. Just listened to it again last week. Absolutely incredible.

Currently listening: My Morning Jacket, live in Tokyo, 2.4.09 Just gonna have to agree to disagree on this point, yet again...

Oh god. Did you catch them on Letterman? I fell in love with Zach Condon all over again.
-
Do you hear that M. Ward influence too? Or is it just me? I definitely hear it on "My Last Mistake". He wears it well, I think. I dunno, the Keys have just kind of worn out their welcome with me. I understand why other people dig them, though.
-
Disclaimer, I guess: I don't care for the Keys all that much, I think they're running their blues-rock formula into the ground. The Auerbach disc covers a little more territory. I wish I could bring Otis Redding back to life just to sing "When the Night Comes". Also, upon first listen of "Mean Monsoon" I thought "Dan's been listening to some M. Ward..."

Similar in style, but IMO it's better. You can hear the nuances in Auerbach's voice that too often get drowned out in the Keys, IMO.

The Jayhawks (including Louris, Olson, and related)
tangara replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
This might sound funny, but Gary wrote some songs for the Dixie Chicks and I swear that you can hear the intended Louris/Olson harmonies on those. -

Oh cool, thanks for the link! I'll have to give that a listen today. I'm supposed to have a meet and greet with Gary and Mark before their show here. I need to think up some good questions. -

The mix was a little off. I needed more Louris. Still, lovely to hear those voices together again. Pretty little tune, too. '90-'91, you say? -
Oh my god.

tangara replied to solace's topic in Someone Else's Song
I've kinda come full circle on them; didn't much care, listened again, LOVEDLOVEDLOVED, now back to kind of indifferent. -
