  1. Oh, yay! It'll be nice to see Karen again. And I agree on Rainy Day Music, too. Lots of good songs on that record: "Angelyne" "Tailspin" and "Tampa to Tulsa" especially.
  2. I'd agree with this, though I think "Cigarettes & Wine" and "No Choice in the Matter" are pretty strong contenders. Now playing:
  3. Whaaa? Well, that's very interesting. Wonder which version of the lineup?
  4. "She" like the Gram Parsons tune? Wow.
  5. You're picking just one? I think all of these are good records. If forced to pick one, I'd have to go with the Bird.
  6. New record out today, too, right? Very excited for the Venus 3 shows this spring!
  7. I love Sasquatch and have been the past two years, but I think I'm skipping this one. It's a great fest though, and I'm happy to offer camping or general fest-y advice to anyone who's planning to go. The lineup is good, but it leaves me a little cold since I've seen most of those bands in the past year, or will be seeing them at SXSW or Bonnaroo.
  8. Night 1 > Night 2. "Blasting Fonda" and I Wanna Be Your Dog" were both incredible. The evening just flowed really nicely. I met a bunch of really lovely Wilco fans that night, too. The left (stage right?) section just above the VIPs was full of awesome people! Y'all rock.
  9. Great show. The covers absolutely killed. I had just listened to their cover of "Thirteen" earlier that day, so I was surprised and thrilled to hear it.
  10. Nice review! Sorry to hear the show didn't go very smoothly, but it sounds like he was able to rally a bit? I've heard he's been playing "The Water Jet Cilice" pretty frequently on this tour! So cool. I never expected to hear that one live, either. Were there cicadas?
  11. Sweet. I will see y'all for both nights in Milwaukee. I'd be up for the Safe House pre-game...but if it's a GA show, I'll be in line!
  12. Anyone know how to get tickets? I didn't see anything on the CIMMfest site. CIMMfest looks kinda cool. I want to check out that Largo documentary they're showing.
  13. Wiener's Circle is still closed for health code violations, I believe... Your closest dog is Murphy's, it's two or three blocks west of the Vic on Belmont. I'd recommend Philly's, it's about a block east of the Vic and they do a decent philly cheesesteak. You can also get deep dish by the slice.
  14. Huh, okay. Woman King is pretty damn fantastic. I just really liked what they did with the percussion and rhythmic elements on Shepherd's Dog; I felt like it had a really nice pulse. Maybe I'll give it another listen today...
  15. Also really thrilled about this! No kidding? I really loved it, thought it was brilliant.
  16. Around The Well and May Tour On May 19, 2009 Iron and Wine will issue Around the Well (Sub Pop), a 2-CD/3-LP collection of rare tracks ranging from out-of-print to never-before-released. In support of Around the Well Iron and Wine will be performing ten intimate shows in five cities. Each individual show will be wholly unique, as Iron and Wine will turn the set list over to the fans to create. In addition, Iron and Wine have begun work on the follow-up to The Shepherd
  17. Oh, nice. I haven't bothered to catch this show yet, but I do like that song quite a bit, so I'll look for a rerun. Thanks for the heads up!
  18. As long as we're splitting hairs, it's more of a jog than a jig
  19. Sweet Jebus I cannot wait to see this band.
  20. When they announced this EP, I got all excited thinking there was a brand new song called "Extra Cheese". Ah well.
  21. Yeah, that's kind of my take on it right now. We'll see if it's a grower. Heh, the record just finished and my iTunes segued into "Juicy" by Biggie. Bit jarring. And if ya don't know, now ya know...
