  1. I’m very sad to learn this news. I met Scott a few years ago at a Baseball Project in-store performance. Super-nice guy. I’ll definitely be sending thoughts, prayers and good vibes his way.
  2. Streaming on Netflix - "Chasing Trane," a good documentary about John Coltrane.
  3. Has anyone taken the plunge and bought the deluxe reissue of AFTP? R.E.M.'s my favorite band ever, but I'm on the fence about spending $75-$80 for a reissue. I don't care much for the demos, and I don't know if I'll ever have the technology to be able to listen to the album in Dolby Atmos.
  4. That CoS list loses a lot of legitimacy by ranking Accelerate ahead of Fables of the Reconstruction and listing Lifes Rich Pageant as only their 8th best.
  5. I think it's recorded on that link. At least it was for me.
  6. Here's a good hour-long sit-down interview with Mike and Michael by Rolling Stone Germany in anticipation of the Automatic re-release: http://www.remhq.com/news/watch-mike-michael-live-from-berlin-on-facebook-live/
  7. It's definitely my favorite of their Warner Bros. albums and one of my favorites from their entire catalog. I've been listening to it pretty frequently in recent months during my dad's decline and in the days since his death. Despite its darkness it's comforting for me.
  8. Thanks for sharing! Peter's probably my favorite R.E.M. member, and I always enjoy reading his takes on pretty much everything. New Adventures is so underrated. For me it was probably their last great album.
  9. Biggest winner: baseball. Great, seven-game series between two 100-plus game winners with rosters full of talent. Congrats to the Astros. What a great story after everything Houston's been through this year.
  10. His passing along with Chuck Berry's is a huge loss for the music world. I've never been a big fan of "New Orleans music." But Fats was way bigger than that. He was one of the founding fathers of rock & roll. Seeing him perform was on my bucket list. Guess I'll never get a chance to check that one off.
  11. I lost my dad. For the last three and a half years (during which time he had three battles with two different cancers) he was front and center in my mind. I feel lost.
  12. It was a fun night. I'm not usually one to hang out after a show, but I was talking to a friend I'd run into at the show when we noticed Britt. If you have a chance to see them again, definitely go.
  13. I saw that show mentioned on XRT's Facebook page. Makes me wish I lived in Chicago.
  14. Now I can give a report. They were great. They're always great! How they can continually make such strong music and play one terrific show after another amazes me. If I had to sum Spoon up in a word, it would be consistent. Plus I met Britt Daniel after the show. I wasn't even trying to. I was just chatting with a couple of friends on the sidewalk, and he walked up to the barricade, talked with fans, signed autographs and posed for pictures. I wasn't expecting it, but that experience was the icing on the cake. They have a fan for life in me.
  15. I'm sure they will be. Seeing them tonight in NOLA.
