Say what you want about them, but in my opinion they can still bring it live. Their show with Beck last night in New Orleans was incredible. I'm not a fan at all of big arena or stadium shows, but they always seem to pull it off.

I was a senior in high school when Automatic came out. A friend left his tape copy in my car, and I listened to it over and over. To me it will always represent R.E.M. at their creative peak. I, too, wish they'd included the b-sides from that era. Demos don't do much for me.

I'll see them tomorrow night in NOLA, and I'll admit it's a total nostalgia thing. I haven't gotten into anything they've released since "All That You Can't Leave Behind."

The Indians' streak may be the story of the year in baseball regardless of which team wins it all. A streak like this is very rare in baseball. I'm a Braves fan, and even though I don't have a dog in the hunt I'm loving it.

I was there, too! They dedicated "Imitation of Life" to Johnny Cash, who'd recently passed away. One of the most memorable concert experiences I've ever had.

Same here. Nice album for the last days of summer. Their first album was great, too.
