Wow, I thought that is what I did say. "I like it, you are missing out" I struck a nerve with the record collection comment I guess?
-
I would place any Wilco record in the top 20% of all albums ever made and so if you think a few Wilco records suck, then I believe you think ALOT of music must really suck
-
I agree with you in terms of what you are saying. I love Wilco and I also love Ryan Adams, but you are right, I can make a Ryan Adams mix and most of it all fits. Wilco is truly an album band with each being a different feel and different vibe.
-
Well I am sorry twice for you, because I think you are missing out. This is all opinion of course, but I kind of agree with the sentiment that to say either of those records sucks would be a pretty strong statement and I would imagine your record collection to be very small becuse that kind of feeling would disqualify about 80% of all records made. I personally have listened to SBS more than any other Wilco record since it was released and I will never have anything but fond love for AM.

CONGRATS! YOU ARE THE WINNER!

Looking at Wilco and Ryan Adams as role models..... I now like somebody better than I did the day before!

Thank God! Now I can say screw Wilco and The Avett Brothers, real rock and roll is back. Hell yeah, I'm going to be taken higher! -
Oh, the you can't "really" enjoy Pink Floyd unless under the influence arguement. Never gets old, does it? This is so stupid and childish that it is boring. Hey, if you feel blessed because you have experienced certain music under certain conditions then more power to you, I'm sorry I'm out in the cold on this one. Or, is it just that you need an excuse to use more drugs. Who cares, either way. In the case of Pink Floyd, I'm sure the outcome of what happened to Syd emotionally and psychologically was well worth it in terms of "exploring" his craft to the fullest. This is stupid, but I'm

I haven't seen it mentioned, but Oh how I wish the piano only version of She's A Jar was on the Ashes download. If you didn't catch it, it is playing while the end credits are rolling. There is also a Judee Sill song title "the Kiss" listed in the song listing in the credits, I can't remember when it is played during the film and if it is the boys covering it or not.

Yeah I just went again to the local indie store today to see if by chance they ever got the Whiskeytown 7" (no luck) but I picked up the Flaming Lips/Black Keys 7" I turned away from the live Iron and Wine CD because I'm not huge into live Cd's and as much as I love I & W, I was never blown away with him live.

Oh since we are keeping score: I didn't "get" the Beatles or Stones until I was 28 years old Blonde on Blonde is not overrated TMBG is a band my best friend would play to irritate me Dino Jr. anyday over Nirvana Grizzley Bear Yellow House is terrrrrrrible and if For Emma is a classic then Iron and Wine OEND is defintely a classic.
-
How did we ever get Dino Jr. and Nirvana in the same conversation? I think I was reading Our Band Could Be Your Life and they compared the two also, or maybe it was somewhere else. Anyway, being a HUGE Dino Jr. fan, I never saw much similarity. Cobain probably wrote better songs, but I have never had the desire to own any Nirvana (not that you needed to circa 1993). Dino Jr. for me especially after Lou left was my band for a while.

I was at that Big Spring Jam show. I will also never forget the version of Sunken Treasure that night. this was right before Being There was released and before Wilco starting gaining attention and traction.

Listen to "Mind Glow" off of Without A Sound

I am a HUGE Beach Boys fan, specifically the 66-73 era. With that being said, Pet Sounds has never made me think, "Oh my God, this is an unbelievable amazing album" Yes God Only Knows is the prettiest song ever made, but the album as a whole.........I guess it is about context. Wild Honey does more for me than Pet Sounds.

Just an FYI. At www.ironandwine.com, he is offering a free download ZIP of 7 or 8 Shephard Dog tracks that upon first listen (haven't listen to it all yet) sound like demo's or stripped versions. Very much worth it, since it is free and there are some of us who prefer the more stripped I & W. For what it is worth, the wife and I were listening to the Woman King a few weeks back and that is just amazing. Completely amazing.

I know this isn't the time to hear from someone real anal, but the only safe way is to back it up on an external harddrive and keep CD copies of everything. It is alot of work and I on a monthly basis back up and make CDRs of any new downloads, but it is worth it.

Yeah I saw it to. I think the people at Wilco world are bored and need more time on their hands, because playing cruel jokes on us like this, not only highlights how lame we are for noticing these things but secondly toys with are already sensitive emotional grounding.

All of this talk about the Movie and not holding a cohesive plot theme. I don't know, it was a Concert film and maybe the producers overreache a little. I think It could have just been promoted as a film about Wilco an American Touring Band. I thought I was going to be annoyed by this dying American thread, but it was done tastefully, not heavy handed, everything that was discussed was more or less factual. It was an amazingly sounding pleasant piece of viewing in my mind. For those wanting Don't Look Back I think this band had that moment in time snap shot documentary with IATTBYH. Any

Pleasantly suprised. Finally watched last night and i really enjoyed it. Being a Wilco fan from the get go, I can honestly say that my sense of anticipation/excitement for this type of thing is nowhere to the levels reached say circa 1996. Maybe that has nothing to do with Wilco, maybe it is growing older, having different priorities beside trying not to fall asleep at class after driving 3 hours to see Wilco play. Either way, this DVD (of all things) has reminded me why I love this band more than any other music related thing in the world. Sometimes I will get focused on other music, Nei

My local indie record store kind of sucked. No Whiskeytown No Vetiver I spent 7 bucks on a Blitzen Trapper 7inch for the cause, but Oh how I wanted that Whiskeytown 7in.

That Wilco story is the kind of thing I'm talking about. I mean, to give people copies saying don't duplicate is crazy. Not everyone is as stand up as you were about it and I think they have to know that. This whole issue has me torn at times. I think leaks and those who outright distribute are lame and wrong, especially of stuff that can be purchased. However I'm more fence post sitting on unreleased material that may never see the light of day, but somehow (unkown to anyone?) have become available. You are going to tell a die hard fan who has likely spent hundreds of dollars on a bands

I'm speaking more about stuff that has never been set for official release. Abandon albums and the what not. I get how promo copies or shady pressing plant employees could leak an album set for release months prior, but how does the studio sessions of something that never saw the light of day get out?

I'm not condoning (sp?) either way, It just seems sloppy. In this day in age, whether it is personal information, product, whatever, you think people would be more careful. I just sometimes wonder if it is premeditated. I can't remember the chain of events with YHF, but didn't that Leak? prior to the band making it available on their website. I'm just thinking that this can be a way of generating buzz or testing the market interest or building market interest.
