  1. I read that too. It very much has a music-hall vibe to it like "Why Would You Wanna Live." Wonder if they were working on those at the same time...
  2. My Kansas State Wildcats are 6-0. Hopefully we'll take care of KU this weekend and then move on to a tough four-game stretch of OU, OSU, Texas A&M and Texas in the following weeks. Not all of our wins have been pretty, but we've found ways to win. Nice to be bowl eligible already.
  3. How exactly does one sing a "long" in the car?
  4. Hey thanks. I love his take on "Simple Twist of Fate" and wondered if that other track would ever surface...
  5. So, essentially you've just written something you want on a sign -- like a Christmas list -- and are holding it in the air?
  6. I've been watching a lot of old Wilco vids this week too! And in relation to this thread:
  7. Maybe they should've gone with the magic four-chord formula that has produced dozens of hits!
  8. From what I recall reading in "Learning How to Die," Summerteeth was finished, but Reprise didn't hear a single and asked Wilco to return to the studio and record another song to be released as the single. The product of those sessions was "Can't Stand It." So it was the label's decision.
  9. I enjoy Can't Stand It, but think there are several songs that would've been much stronger for a single.
  10. I think so too. While I love the whole album, I think either of those songs you mentioned are better than "Can't Stand It." They went back in the studio at the label's request and wrote, recorded and released that as the single?
  11. My thought as well. The differences in the (alt) Black Moon are so subtle. Maybe the (alt) Art of Almost will be that Sade-slow-jam take they talked about in some interviews. Me too. Great tune.
  12. On the Tiny Desk concert, Jeff's playing in the usual whole-step down tuning, and Pat's playing second rhythm in standard tuning. Works well.
  13. These and The Gaslight Anthem all on Spinner this week: http://music.aol.com/new-releases-full-cds/spinner#/1
  14. Great rocking covers of The Who, Pearl Jam, Tom Petty and a few others.
  15. Very well then! I too own it. I wouldn't mind someday (probably not soon) hearing the dozens of other songs they didn't use for The Whole Love, with all the two-album talk that was happening...
  16. A little early to dismiss it as lame if a tracklisting hasn't been released yet, don't ya think?
  17. Wilco posted about this on their FB page -- and there was a link on their webpage.
  18. I think in time, Summerteeth will grow to become more and more appreciated -- more so than it is among the fans. Even though I know what the big labels were going for back in the day, it still makes me chuckle to think that a few suits thought Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot were lacking catchy songs.
