Official reviews of The Whole Love
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to Albert Tatlock's topic in Just A Fan
I'd much rather know that the magazine maintains a bit of integrity and still reviewed the album honestly, cover story or no cover story. Besides, a cover story is likely done before a review. -

How so? Ignoring the fact that the review and the interview aren't necessarily the same writer, I think it's tacky to assume a cover story guarantees you a good review. -
Kingpin should come back as a semi-regular song. They played it the first time I saw them (2008) but it seems to be very rare since then.

I think Jeff's always gonna write songs. And I just don't see him wanting to do the whole thing solo. If a solo career was all he wanted, there would be Jeff Tweedy solo albums by now.

No way. As much as I like the current lineup, I wouldn't mind a pretty radical lineup overhaul. Not that it'll happen soon, but it will eventually.

Generally speaking, letterpress shops rarely reprint things. It takes away from the appeal of the process in the first place.

Now Reading in the New New New Year
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to a topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I cannot recommend this enough if you're at all a fan of the genre. Outstanding book. First one I've ever re-read within days of reading it for the first time. Really brilliant stuff. -
Wilco 10/04/11 Peabody Opera House

I can totally understand not liking the feedback/noise/whatever, but this is just way off. -
But if I want to not see naked babes, I'll just look at real life. If I want to see naked babes I'll look at porn. Looking at porn to not see naked babes is just weird and sick.

Why would you like blurry porn?

Radiohead - The King of Limbs
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to solace's topic in Someone Else's Song
Haven't watched it yet, but Give Up The Ghost was what I'd hoped all of TKOL would be. Nice song. -
I don't think a band should ever plan setlists for the few people who catch 3/4 shows a tour. I'm sure that, when it comes to rarities, they consider what they played last time they were in town more than what they played last night in some other city. If the setlists are boring, don;t follow the band around the country. It's simple.
-
You could just not follow their every setlist online, you know?

I think that, were I not a large Wilco fan, the only covers of theirs that I would legitimately call "good" are Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and perhaps Summerteeth. And maybe The Whole Love. But I am a large Wilco fan, so I like them all to some extent.

Wilco - 10/2/11 Ryman Auditorium
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to yohansen5b's topic in After The Show
Friendly tip on the posters selling out: If you know the poster artist (Wilco's facebook page tends to say who designed them), keep an eye on their personal site. The artist almost always gets a few posters to sell on his own, and they'll usually be the same price as the shows, plus shipping. Wilco sometimes adds them to their online store, but not always. Check just in case, and if not, find the artist. -
Post about Wilco's most important member in this thread. Thanks.

The American Radiohead
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to Shakespeare In The Alley's topic in Just A Fan
So basically they both come across exactly as their music intends? -

Such insightful criticism. -
I'll never understand how people can put AM last, or even dislike it at all. It's certainly on the minor end of things, but there's no way SBS or WTW are better albums.
