  1. This being said, tracks 1-5 and 12 are among Wilco's very finest moments. Just shows how ridiculously uneven SBS is.
  2. I wouldn't assume OSM is a guarantee myself. It's great, but doesn't seem like a song they'll play every night. I'd like to be wrong though.
  3. You realize Jonny Greenwood is not a bass player, right?
  4. But it's generally accepted, even among his most diehard fans, that Ryan Adams is a massive prick, tool, douchebag, brat, whatever you want to call him.
  5. To throw out another long running band that remains at or near their peak abilities, my favorite band, Super Furry Animals, is a bit older than Wilco and released their 9th album in 2009. I put it very near the top of their discography, and a lot of other fans would agree. At a certain point it's hard/impossible not to hint at sounds you've already covered as a band, but that doesn't mean new material can't still compete with the time tested classics of the earlier years.
  6. No way in hell the band/people involved with the band don't check this forum when a new song/album drops. I wouldn't believe that they read everything, but a skim of relevant threads seems about right. And also no way in hell are they so sensitive that they can't handle backhanded compliments.
  7. ST BT YHF AGIB AM SBS WTA Worst case scenario, TWL comes in equal to or below AM. Best case scenario, it barely edges out AGIB for the #4 spot.
  8. But the early albums aren't out of print or hard to find.
  9. I never said it wasn't what I wanted or expected. It is what I wanted, and I'll take pop music over difficult listening any day. I was just saying that TWL isn't a difficult album (because someone in this thread said it was), even if it is relatively varied stylistically. Not a bad thing by any means whatsoever.
  10. OK. But that doesn't make it a challenging listen. Varied, sure. But not challenging. Wilco's always made pop music, and this album is no different. Layered sounds and good production (which this certainly has in most places) does not equal difficult listening.
  11. I wouldn't say it's challenging at all. It's very good, but definitely leans heavily on deliberate poppiness for me.
  12. Let's be reasonable and not declare an hour-old album Wilco's best, or even their best in 7 years. It's very good. But that's as much as I can say after one listen.
  13. First few notes of Black Moon are basically Sounds Better In The Song
  14. This album might have my absolute favorite ending run of songs ever. Unreal.
