  1. good to see we've got Terry Richardson on the board.
  2. this band is pretty good: http://yamantakasonictitan.bandcamp.com/album/yt-st
  3. yeah i think i'll shoot the show if there's a list spot. i still haven't gotten around to seeing TWOD despite them playing in town at least 4 times.
  4. Dylan, Huey Lewis, Bruce Hornsby are also mentioned. surprised to see no one's mentioned the Kurt Vile angle yet...KV was a member of TWOD, and Adam was a Violator. they kinda split as each project began taking more and more time, but i think they are still on good terms. i might be there next week. i'm the middle-aged,short, bearded guy w/ the leg brace.
  5. anyone playing "Yesterday" on an instrument other than a contra-bassoon will struck by lightning instantly.
  6. that's an interesting angle i hadn't considered. so what happens if you choose #2, and a band you really like is touring on a new record they just put out? when they play something from their back catalog, you'd be enveloped in a cone of silence. ok, let's go w/ that.
  7. no, it's an arbitrary line in the sand, with time zero starting today. say you've never heard Can's Ege Bamyasi. well, if you choose scenario #2, you can listen to it 24-7, but (I'm guessing) that songs from _Apostrophe'_ would be off limits, including previously unissued live recordings, demos, or covers from other bands.
  8. no, that loophole doesn't exist in my premise. old recordings, live recordings, covers of songs you've already heard - off limits in scenario #2. the only exception to that is if you are a musician....clearly you've got to be able to play (and listen, i would imagine) your own compositions. i don't want people to go bankrupt here.
  9. that's a really strange way of looking at it. why would you be forced to listen to that stuff just because you haven't already? do you think you've exhausted the current supply of music that you would enjoy?
  10. you should do a Lifter/Puller song.
  11. you must choose one option: 1 - you can only listen to music for the rest of your life that you've previously heard. 2 - you can only listen to music for the rest of your life that you've never heard before today.

  13. i thought this was Bowie at first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGD9i718kBU
  14. the Neil/Dylan thread got me thinking about this question... this is just what you paid, not ancillary costs like transportation to the gig (ie, if you flew somewhere to see a band), and festivals don't count either. talking single gigs. i think actually Wilco is my highest...paid about $100 per ticket back in 2002. i hadn't seen wilco yet and the wife and i decided to splurge for front row tickets via some ebay reseller. definitely worth it. i also paid some guy $150 (face value) for a ticket to see Neil Young and Bert Jansch solo. i had a photo pass but no ticket, and decided i wanted to
  15. i'll have more later but just gotta say it was utterly brilliant. no lie that i'd much have rather seen Nick and Paul last night than Dylan in the same room. fantastic songs, great playing, funny between-song banter, and a really well chosen set list. Dump and Barbara Manning were superb as well. such a fun night.
  16. Joe lost some of his vocal range...he's living in Toronto now, and has hooked up w/ another emigrant to Toronto, Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub. they are recording and touring as New Mendicants.
  17. it's gonna be an acoustic show, Nick and I forget who else. I think there will be video of it, and i'll be taking stills.
  18. finished season 1 last night...awesome, can't wait for the next. new tunes from Mogwai will be coming as well.
  19. Rocket from the Crypt and Ex-Hex (Mary Timony's new band) tonight! The Bevis Frond/Dump (James McNew's solo project)/Barbara Manning tmrw.
  20. the kid who plays Victor does an amazing job. Camille, too.
