  3. i think Murray Street is just as good. for me, the jaw dropper is Polvo's _In Prism_....ten years later, they drop their finest LP ever. and they made some great records in the 90s.
  4. damn, in two years my 1st LP purchase will turn 40....sobering.
  5. matt pike's les paul was stolen last night...here's what it looks like if you happen to frequent pawn shops or ebay listings: Details of the guitar: 1992 Les Paul Standard, tobacco burst finish. Serial number 92462499. Lace "Pike" signature pickups installed. The 70's style strap has no strap locks, it's screwed directly to the guitar with fender washers. The truss rod cover on the headstock is says "Jimmy" in script letters. The SKB case has "pike" stenciled in 3" white old english letters on the lower left corner. There is a label on top that says "TEMPEST".
  6. i got my LP in the mail yesterday but ddin't haev time to listen to it.
  7. jesus, from the post title i thought Bill Lee had died.
  8. i don't have a problem w/ the songs you mentioned...yeah they can be a bit sentimental and sappy, but not nearly to the extent of Hey Jude...the fake wigout at the end and the endless na-na-nah-na part is the absolute worst. you are right, but that criteria by itself doesn't excuse a song either (hello, "achy breaky heart," etc).
  9. i just went through the rest of my photos and tossed a few more into the gallery http://www.zenfolio.com/narlus/p576323728/
  10. Hey Jude is awful. horrible enough that i hope to never hear it again.
  11. five knuckle shuffle. oh wait, that's a throbbing gristle song about jerking off. nevermind.
  12. name some of the 1% bands....can anyone name a band that put out at least 10 LPs and the last 3 were just as solid as the stuff that came before?
  13. i have no clue, but congrats on drawing the attention of a fellow artist.
  14. and that's true for indoor shows as well. i think every place has a hard stop at some point.
  15. setlist.fm doesn't have all the shows but it's got a lot http://www.setlist.fm/stats/wilco-23d6982b.html
  16. pete's really been all over the place wrt to guitars though, right? rickenbackers, fender strats, SGs, les pauls....seems like he's played a lot of different guitars and hasn't ever settled down to just one style.
  17. this is a good cd too: http://www.discogs.com/Various-The-Lounge-Ax-Defense-Relocation-Compact-Disc/release/793665
  18. i saw the Who's performance via youtube last night, before the powers that be yanked it...excellent stuff!
  19. there seems to be a lot of advertising for this show...i wonder if the Gilette show is drawing too many people, or if that's hurting too. i would be interested to hear how full (or empty) the park is.
  20. still waiting for the Partridge/Robyn Hitchcock collaboration to see the light of day...if it'll ever happen.
