  1. i think some people might have missed the 'sing in a different language' portion of this thread... anyway, two of my favorites are Dungen (Swedish) and Boris (Japanese). i'm trying to think of any bands who sing in German... i suppose i could count SFA's _Mwng_ as well (in Welsh).
  2. Whatever happened to Redpillbox? I liked that perspective between the first and second covers records. I am liking the prospect of Marshall-penned songs again
  3. i'd never heard this song before, and while doing some mp3 maintenance i happened to come across a link that compared that particular song to another one, one that had real hairy balls. i tend to agree quite heavily w/ the blog writer. http://lamestainnorthwest.blogspot.com/2009/07/historia-del-la-musica-tad-pt-v.html
  4. here's the band's response: http://www.deathcabforcutie.com/
  5. Rumor had it that Neil was to play a free instore @ Plan 9 records on RSD, but due to weather and other issues, it didn't happen. he was browsing the racks, however.
  6. the Follow Me Down 2LP was priced at $20, which seemed reasonable to me. plus, the store i went to had 20% off all vinyl, including RSD releases!
  7. Swervedriver - Son Of Mustang Ford Slayer - Angel of Death Black Sabbath - Hole In The Sky The Stooges - Search and Destroy Guided By Voices - Shocker In Gloomtown
  8. google tells me that Ed Banger is some techno label...holy christ... http://cgi.ebay.com/Ed-Banger-Bee-Sides-5x-Ltd-7-NEW-Sebastian-Justice-RSD-/150592673777?pt=UK_Records&hash=item231005d7f1#ht_709wt_1139
  9. there were two copies in the store i went to, and i think the price was $40. i picked up one to see if there was a discernible weight difference (ie, golden ticket/test pressing inside). i put it back as i was already spending too much and i'm not a huge fan of that record to be honest. figured i'd save it for someone who was. edit - i just left an offer of $1 to for this auction, and left a note leaving in no uncertain terms what i thought of the seller. http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&_trksid=p4340.l2564&item=270736635165&guest=1
  10. i ended up getting more stuff for my friends than me, at least $ wise...including the Flaming Lips box, the Television 2LP and the Black Angels 10". for me, i got: V/A - FOLLOW ME DOWN: VANGUARD'S LOST PSYCHEDELIC ERA (1966 - 1970) sonic youth - sister ozzy - blizzard of ozz j fahey - requia earth - angels of darkness, demons of light also got a handful of singles, including the ZZ Top/Mastodon split, the OFF! single, Joy Formidable, Urge Overkill, Superchunk/Coliseum split, and i think one more.
  11. USX is a Neurot label band, the label that Neurosis runs. i've seen 'em a couple of times. not too bad....lo-fi doom psych stuff
  12. so f'in good. i love that band, and it was so great to see them on stage again. if you saw the TT's show, the show was shorter (there was some lesbian/gay/tranny cabaret/performance art thing beforehand, which was actually pretty entertaining), and i don't think they played any songs they hadn't before but it was amazing.
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUl1A7zSvCI this ends with the particularly devastating line of: "When was the first time you realized the next time would be the last time?"
  14. well ebay is the great equalizer...if someone's got an overpriced LP hanging on the wall, it'll likely sit there. i didn't see that link, btw.
  15. not sure what the hell the nonsense is before 0:16, but when The Delgados start singing Burns' "Parcel Of Rogues" it's great
  16. so the used record store owners are greedy...got it. why aren't you into new music? nothing else needs to be said that Dylan or Lennon hadn't already? you shouldn't need 'big photos' to help you understand an aural experience; maybe you are doing it wrong. my main point is that for people who enjoy records made by small labels, the chances of finding a used copy, never mind one for under $10, isn't very feasible at all. and greed has nothing to do w/ it.
  17. because small labels like Three Lobed, Subliminal Sounds, Poon Village, Erstwhile, Kranky, Sublime Frequencies, Olde English Spelling Bee, Captured Tracks, Editions Mego, etc are all run w/ greedy people at the helm.
  18. March 1992 Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Trace Anodyne Being There
