it didn't rain and the show was glorious! my shoes got soaked w/ beer and cider, though. good thing i wore wool socks. it's f'in COLD in ireland this week.
-
close cousins, but the overall tempo of the bass line in "Seagull" is closer I'd say. also, have you ever noticed that "Good Lovin'" "La Bamba" and "Twist and Shout" are basically all the same song?
-
Ride was good and the lead track was from their new record and it sounded great! they did an aftershow at a small club in Dublin, and i had a chance to buy tickets before it sold out but didn't. glad i didn't because i would have had to have left the Cure show half way through in order to get back down in time to see them. edit - it also became clear to me, decades later, that the bass line to "Seagull" is basically "Taxman"
-
yeah it was a great show. complete nightmare leaving the concert and trying to get transport back to dublin. i finally made it to my hotel room at 3:20 or so. mind, the concert ended at around 10:50.

The Cure with Ride and Twilight Sad.

so i am in dublin for work, and the cure is playing tmrw... i put in for it, but not too optimistic i'll get approved. i am tempted to just get an aftermarket ticket but if it rains it'll be fucking miserable. weather's been shit all week for the most part.

uh... isn't that what this was supposed to be? https://www.discogs.com/Radiohead-OK-Computer-OKNOTOK-1997-2017/release/10554693 this is a pretty good investment for $20. https://www.discogs.com/The-Cure-Join-The-Dots-B-Sides-Rarities-19782001-The-Fiction-Years/master/2873 -
kind of surprised not to see a dedicated Radiohead thread, so I'll just create this one. I know there are fans here, and this will be very interesting to those of you (it's a LOT to take in): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kA8u6UhjbutZ-b7TXzmX4qkOTg6nGC1vPg50WwCcZyo/preview stream it here: https://archive.org/details/nityca100_gmail_12/Ok+Minidisc/1.mp3

Band of Horses should tour w/ Priest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FqNGg9g2AU -
i have never heard of those. when you speak of building the iTunes library, are you mainly talking about playlists? or ratings, etc? metadata should be transferrable, i would think.
-
iTunes is horrible and the work of several devils. i still can't get one of my ipods to actually be recognized by the software on one machine so i have to use my laptop if i want to move songs. foobar is a far better player, less bloat and all the customization you'd want if you like to tinker (or just use a skin that someone else made).

good read... interesting that Tweedy did some production work that ultimately got scrapped. i'd also love to hear the sessions with Black Mountain as his band: https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/david-berman-was-the-cult-musician-who-went-away-for-10-years-what-made-him-finally-come-back/2019/06/03/19735620-77db-11e9-b7ae-390de4259661_story.html?fbclid=IwAR2W0PezQYtVOoVy7IgwCmdLcN2U2mHdUbV0tMk4-ROBuoYJx_BBRTo9nBU&utm_term=.af9a7f73b62c -
1989 - A watershed year for music

they really only hit a low point for me in the Experimental and NYC Ghosts records, and even those records had some good songs. -

massive disagreement here... i love Goo and it's rightly among their best records, but the EVOL > Sister > DDN run preceding it was even better. also, my favorite Mudhoney records are the early singles and the S/T. good stuff after that, but far patchier. -
