  1. the crazy thing is that they made 1000? that's grossing a half million... but there is no way in hell they're gonna shift that many.
  2. i gave them the benefit of the doubt in 2016 with their vote for Trump. I guess some people will always vote for what they perceive is their best self-interest, and these guys are both bankers so it's clear they wouldn't vote for someone like Warren or Sanders. but given Trump's behavior since elected, i wanted to see if they changed their minds. they hadn't and still support him. i find that absolutely reprehensible, esp as one of them is a self-avowed christian.
  3. last night i basically cut off ties to two neighborhood friends i've had for years over their continued support of Trump.
  4. i realize that i am quoting a fairly old post, but regardless of what Trump says/tweets/does, he can't hang himself due to the depressingly large amount of Americans who are OK w/ his indirect or flagrant racism.
  5. saw Mono last night at Whelan's. kinda surprised it took me so long to finally see a show there. pretty decent, small room. didn't make it up to the balcony to check that out but maybe next time. Mono are pretty good at the post-rock dynamic rock game, a bit more orchestral/symphonic than, say, Mogwai. no opener, just them. the guy in front of me had such bad BO that i was praying he'd start farting to mask the smell.
  6. wow, that Idles/Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever show last night was something else.
  7. it's not a good sign that i can't really think of any records off the top of my head aside from the Dommengang LP.
  8. The Rolling Stones! in a funny Wilco coincidence, i met and hung out with the guy who does the Roadcase recordings for Wilco. He knew Charlie Watts' drum tech and the guy hooked him up w/ a photo pass!
  9. thanks bbop! i will admit to using some of your notes from the karaoke night for my review...i couldn't exactly recall what jeff said a couple of times and i mistakenly deleted the notes i took on my phone. hope to meet you in person one of these days. thanks calvino! the live score was kinda meh... it took a while to get going due to some power issue, and when it was on all they did was some noodly improv stuff, nothing essential at all. their regular set was very good, however. they have a pretty unique sound.
  10. thanks guys!!! see you in 2021 Gary! well, hopefully much sooner than that.
  11. yeah for sure! sorry i didn't get to spend more time chatting, it's a busy weekend. hope your travels back went without incident.
  12. some arranged words and pixels about last weekend. from me to you. https://digboston.com/solid-sound-festival-2019-wilco-the-feelies-courtney-barnett-the-minus-5-cate-le-bon-tortoise-jonathan-richman-mdou-moctar-etc/
  13. Sister and EVOL are so great, though there a bit of noisy bits here and there. an absolute stunner of an album opener: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3eCdo0oHFI
  14. the start of an incredible run (though some may counter that it really began w/ Bad Moon Rising).
  15. i'd prefer the Taylor Swift version. ok, not so much. i was happy to hear Poor Places but not exactly the karaoke version. Reservations was nice! i was also happy to hear Say You Miss Me as i've never heard that one before, and the stand-in singer did a nice job. the karaoke appearance that would have been great is Richman joining the Feelies for a Modern Lovers song. le sigh.
  16. there were a bunch... i bought my copy as i was leaving the fest after the final show on Sunday and there were still at least 20-30 copies on display, who knows what was still in boxes.
  17. huh i didn't realize that was Nels' wife... a friend of mine who is here knows Cat Popper so I'll see if i can find out if it was her or not.
  18. is this the first year they are using dorms for rental rooms? or did they do that last year as well? makes a lot of sense tbh.
  19. Worshipper record release party. Summoner ruled too. fun night. went w/ my youngest son, Redbones beforehand for dinner.
