that can only mean one thing. they are playing the Pitchfork festival.

depending on what you are looking for, there is a strong possibility you might never actually see a physical copy.

i haven't bought a record via ebay in years, though the automated alerts were handy at times... discogs is the way to go, imo.

well this was unexpected... congrats to my friends in High On Fire!!!

that live record was my intro to the band. killer set.

he didn't say a word to the crowd, and generally looks pretty much like he did 30 years ago. i didn't realize the new record is all covers, so i was pretty confused when early on, i picked out Yo La Tengo and Nick Cave covers. i could have done without the (fucking) Eagles, but the Lucinda Williams song was a nice fit, as was the Bee Gees. i did a little research and he did this 10 years ago too. https://www.discogs.com/The-Lemonheads-Varshons/master/170242 and the new one: https://www.discogs.com/The-Lemonheads-Varshons-II/release/12923531

saw the Lemonheads kick off their tour last night, in dublin. fun show. gonna see Sleaford Mods (finally!) tmrw night.

gotta say that 3/4 of a Pussy Galore reunion wasn't really what i expected to see in 2019.

that lineup is the definition 'let's spin the wheel of bands who are touring'...

i need to finish my review but i thought the show was great. very heavy on Hell-On but i think it's a very strong record overall, so no complaints. the vocals sounded great; the biggest gap of missing Hogan was the back and forth... banter was decent but not up to usual Neko levels.
-
it's a soundboard shoot so i'll be hanging at the back. Neko is transitioning full diva mode...
-
Neko Case. Assuming some other VCers will be there as well?

my guess is the band dresses like their favorite movie characters and plays a song from that movie soundtrack. rinse/repeat throughout the entire set. I can't wait for this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=re_QAb2LqgU

peak nadir of band names has been reached.

my baseball moment was with Ron House... dude was definitely into the game. all-time classic 7" sleeve from one of his bands:

i did see them in Iceland, in a tiny club after ATP finally went tits up. the light sucked and it was jammed so i didn't take many photos. https://photos.tinnitus-photography.com/p37021402 i did go on tour w/ the band for 3 dates in Scandinavia this year, and that was an incredibly great time. the Copenhagen show in particular was amazing and i got a bunch of my favorite photos i've ever taken of the band, https://photos.tinnitus-photography.com/p994700641 i am not sure if you know or not, but Matt Pike's been battling some severe diabetes-related feet issues. he had to have a sm -

thanks TIoO! -
i shot a bit less this year as compared to previous years, but still covered a lot of ground... 55 shows and four festivals, in five different countries. plus, i went to a few shows without my camera (John Cale, Liz Phair, Pearl Jam, and I am likely forgetting one or two others). i think most people know i do this because i love to and not because i'm trying to reach any finite goals, but i did tick off a couple of them this year. First, i got to go out on tour with a band, if only for three shows. but those shows were amazing and it was really an incredible experience. i'm grateful to Al, Jas

hmmm... i think there were less albums that i really dug this year as compared to others, but there was still some really good stuff released. my musical discovery of the year was from Estonia of all places; Erki Parnoja released a live record this year, but last year's Efterglow is so good and probably my favorite record that was new to me this year. here are some songs that i dug... maybe you did/will too? https://open.spotify.com/user/tinnitus_photo/playlist/1a3RozOVpoCOtQBwcI38or?si=_MBbl5zxSDyZqjab9iUOSw my top 10 records would be (inpo) Dommengang - Love Jail Malkmus/Jicks - Sparkle

tbh i have zero interest in giant festivals like coachella, so the fact that really no bands i like are gonna play shitshows like that is more than fine with me.

here is one guess i have for SSF19: Cate Le Bon
