Picture a 40 yr old wearing a pair of these running about a half mile on a blustery afternoon to catch the opening pitch at a UVA baseball game yesterday. My arches still haven't recovered. We're grown up now. Lets make that a dark lager. Here's a thing... Switch the blue paint job to yellow with black pin stripes, add a small orange "Realistic" brand AM radio mounted center to the handle bars and a couple of rear view mirrors and you'll have my most beloved ride ever. Banana seat and coaster brakes: Life was simple and good. God, how I loved that bike.

What's the oldest thing in your house?

'Bout a month ago I picked up an early L.C. Smith typewriter ( pre-dates Smith Corona). A little beat up...$20 bucks at an estate sale. Fast forward a few days later, I stumble across a early twenties Underwood. Perfect shape. Guy calls me yesterday says I can have it for $25. *Ding* Had to have it. Now I have them both on my desk....no room for my laptop. Lots of old junk from the twenties though the forties at my home. Many varieties of radios and a few early phonographs. Lots of telephones ( Wall cranks and Candle sticks). -
And just a tad creepy. DC 20 had a late night Horror Film segment where he used to dress up as Dracula. Dracula with a rad. seventies style mustache. Still... Yeah man...yeah.

Dude I'm right there with you. Between "Battle of the planets" and the SST racers I think we'd have gotten along just fine as youngsters. Speaking of old 70s-80s cartoons... If you were in the vicinity of D.C. during that era you probably remember this guy.

That would be "His Kind of Woman". Price is totally over the top and fantastic in that. I love just about all those Mitchum / Jane Russell films (Macao is another good one). Of course Mitchum's "Night of the Hunter " is probably my favorite performance of his, right up there w/"Cape Fear" My favs. would include just about everything Capra ever did along with most of George Cukor's films. Trying to think of a few that haven't been thrown out there already: How bout some more screwball comedies ? "My Man Godfrey" "Born Yesterday" "His Girl Friday" "The Awful Truth" Others... "The Misfits" "

Edmunds.com is another useful resource. I've found it especially helpful in determining a fair price when purchasing new. I can also currently recommend Subarus. Mine is an 05 Forester (Summer of 04) w/69000 miles and no issues or repairs. Average gas millage is about 26MPG. Spacious unless you frequently have back seat passengers (cramped). AWD is a plus in any inclement weather. Engineered well ( I do all the maintenance on my cars...it's easy to work on) and the 2.5 4cyl is bullet proof. 165BHP (newer models have more) and plenty peppy coupled with the 5 speed (stay away from that, Subies

Come to think of it, old Tom even looks a little like the Grinch.

I'd have to put Ragged Wood #2 behind the new Constantines as best of 08 so far. That said, after having only lived with the EP and R.W. for only four days now, they are pretty outstanding. Absolutely.

In the last five years or so Waits has become one of the most substantive and important artists who's output I've enjoyed. Here's hoping for quick details as to venues and dates. If the man is playing out in 08 I'll be there. I don't care where it is.

Gonna miss the "Rock" (Farve) One thing is for sure. It'll be weird watching the Pack without old number 4 behind center...

That sounds amazing. For my own choice I'll take pie. Hot apple pie with a light flaky crust and a sharp layer of cheese. That may sound weird but it's fantastic. -
Sincerest condolences Chis and family. I can't help but smile at the notion of how wonderful it would have been to have know her and how lucky you guys are for having been a part of her life.
