People bring their kids all the time. Go for it.

Yeah, I think so. Only one spin through so far. It's generally pretty subdued ...."The Crime Window" isn't working for me yet. I'm at work and can't give it my full attention, we'll see after we live w/it for awhile.

Another Guitar Project Question
jimmyjimmy replied to BigWheeledWagon's topic in Solid State Technology
I started to advocate that earlier but I'm one of those who believes that a bridge and the way it's attached to the body is a pretty significant factor in the amount of resonance and sustain a guitar has. It's really got to be something to consider heavily. I would like to add a bigsby to my 1980 heritage series Les Paul but am worried how it will effect it tonally. -
I must've listened to "Hey Aretha" at least three times in a row now.

Yeah, I never got a chance to reply back yesterday so lemmie say that thing does look fab. Great job. I especially dig what you've done with the neck and hardware. A really fine "relic" looking job: The pin-up girl decal is a nice touch too. If I buy a Tele (again) this year, and I'm trying my damnedest not to actually (self control yo!) I'm gonna ping you to see if you want the job of subjecting it an old logging chain and drum sander to give it that well worn look. Beautiful. -

Just add them to another (separate) post (I think). Details friend, so I don't have to go back and dig up what is what. Like, lets start w/that neck. Fender or other? Neck Pickup (which looks great). And BTW you've picked almost the exact same color I re-finished my strat in last year. -
Will see her on 2/27 @ Vienna. Are these full band shows or just Basia solo? Am anxious to get my mits on the LP proper also...thinking I'll wait until the show and pick it up from the merch. table.

Yeah actually. Stay away from the classics. It's neat when while waiting on hold something pops up that's pretty eclectic and along the same lines as something I'd listen to myself. Once, long before the album "Rainy day Music" was even released I was put on hold and the Jayhawks Save It For A Rainy Day came on. And I thought...how totally cool is that! Anything by Waits.

That's a good one. Don't see that very often. NP Cat Power: "You are Free"

"Pups" is slang for pickups, yes. Brass saddles are the barrel shaped devices where the strings pass over or "break" on the bridge of the guitar.

It's really quite good. It's surprising the extent Thompson (Frank Black) allowed the cameras insight into his personal life. The film does a great job of allowing us in on the interpersonal relationships and dynamics, or lack thereof, within the band and the Deal sisters. It doesn't make the attempt to take a comprehensive look at the music and history of the group. What it does is it focuses on that period where they all come together again. Never really rejoiceful (there are light happy moments with fans outside of venues) it's peppered throughout with darker moments that allude to t

Welcome to the club. What's amazing is the disconnect people display against the refuted claims of these anti Obama chain mails. I've gotten this thing in my inbox at least three times in the last two months from both those whom wish to support Obama and are easily manipulated by it's propagandist message and those who are well established against his campaign. I've replied w/various links from established sources and STILL some of these folks either are reluctant to accept it's falsities or blatantly disregard any rebuttal based on truths. It's amazing the degree of denial people will exh

OK. Gotcha. Best gift ever. Too cool. Side note: Try sitting down with an eight to ten year old kid and watch an episode of the original series sometime. They think, and rightfully so, that the women are all beautiful, the doctor is a crabby old man and Uhura has a salt shaker stuck in her ear. Fun stuff. Oh, and this is awesome.
