  1. I should hope so...It's totally your fault. Man I hope Beggars releases it on vinyl...
  2. It's 1961. You wear a fedora and and are drinking a boilermaker? Dap Dippin is a must have. I should also mention that the layout for the vinyl issues of The Dap Kings stuff on Daptone records is really pretty cool. Old school...check it out. A friend cold called me about three years ago to go out and see SJ+the Dap Kings, whom I'd never heard of. It was one of those concert experiences where your so shocked and floored you just kinda stand there in a daze in front of the monitors with the goofiest expression across your face: Bliss. I seriously hope Winehouse gets her act together. I
  3. Just got this. First listen...It's great.
  4. A few quick thoughts working off of DeapSea's suggestions. Money's an issue and since your not sure where to spend the dollars anyway he hints towards the use of a humbucker pickup. And that's not a horrible idea. You own a Squire Strat. I don't usually advocate butchering a guitar but these are prime candidates for experimentation. Talk to guys in your local guitar shop about a nice warm sounding humbucker for around a hundred bucks and see how much they'd charge to route the body and wire it up for you; ( Nice thing about a strat is you can always simply change the pickguard and go back t
  5. Liked being the operative word here for me too. It's good, but not his best work.
  6. I was just listening to this EP on the drive in this morning. I wouldn't call Down in a Hole the highlight of the record by any means. Blue Hotel, this latest;(and arguably better) version of If I Am A Stranger and Dear John all, IMHO trump it. Dear John is fantastic.
  7. Wow. That does NOT sound like Paul McCartney...at all.
  8. Can't comment on the Custom semi hollow body. The SE Soapbar II is a fine guitar. Fit/finish is great, nice hardware, frets dressed out nicely. Pickups are lively with a nice growl the way P-90s are supposed to bite. Certainly one of the best availible under $1K.
  9. Old dude looks kinda cute drivin that behemoth. Snappy leather gloves and all...
  10. MMJ (still the best performance I've seen in my 35+ years of attending rock concerts) Wilco (right now they are at their peak) M Ward (great!) Neko Case Ryan Adams ( Three times this year alone he and the Cards knocked me out) Edit: Yeah... Yo La Tengo are up there too. Edit PartII: Drive By Truckers
  11. It's common practice for Mods to lock threads and start new ones as the original thread gets larger in size; (EX. There's usually a new Random Thought Thread weekly, Now Playing Threads are closed monthly, and The Now Watching/Reading Threads are closed as necessary and then resurrected anew. In the case of the NFL thread you are referring too, a new one was already started as a replacement. It's here!. And BTW...you can always "ping" a mod w/ any questions you may have. If you click on "Your assistant" in the upper right hand side of the page you'll find a link to the moderating staff.
  12. Done and done. And for what it's worth, the little old ladies at the firehouse where I vote brought in homemade biscuits and preserves. I mean, man...talk about an incentive on a cold wet morning! (Now that I think about it, it has rained the morning of the last three elections I have voted in...probably not a good omen for my candidate).
  13. I know I'll miss something here...And it's eleven, sorry. Favs in no order...but the top three are IN the top three. Dr. Dog's We all Belong the National's Boxer Andrew Bird's Armchair Apocrypha Twilight Sad's Fourteen Autumns Fifteen Winters White Rabbit's Fort Nightly Sharon Jones' 100 Days 100 Nights Spoon's GA X5 Radiohead's In Rainbows Arcade Fire's Neon Bible The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse Iron and Wine's Shepard's Dog
  14. The new Russo....just started last evening.
  15. That's Avalon sunset Full Moon Fever, Petty Andrew Bird MPEs Josh Ritter Historical Conquests of You Guys are pretty good!
  16. That's lovely... It will actually, it's just such a pain in the ass to dial in. And once you get it there it's hard to maintain. Change a guitar, this will effect the level of distortion and either not allow the FF to break up soon enough or send you into squalling feedback. And god forbid you bump the knobs while stepping on the damn thing. It's a touchy little bastard, but it'll get you there
  17. That's a neat pedal. I own one. It should be noted that it's no where near as flexible as most loopers out there. And, while it's essentially a noiseless circuit , the effect itself adds a certain ambiance (read: lo-fi noise) to the signal. Not for everyone. Check Youtube for a demo.
