  1. Just finally got the remastered version of this, I had no idea how just good this record is, I only ever heard the original a couple of times and never payed it much mind. The band is fantastic, it's nice to actually hear what they're playing, and helped me hear just how good these songs are, and i think backup singers are always a classy touch. HUGE difference and improvement between this and the original.
  2. for your downloading woes, 4/8/78 FLorida somewhere, Mastered Sdbd, sounds pretty amazing, lots of Phil, and great show to boot http://www.sendspace.com/file/uwqchj
  3. I just got the Bunkhouse record, I'm kind of a Jayhawks dork, thru the Sound of Lies anyway, so I think it's worth seeking out.
  4. http://www.sendspace.com/file/l3ini7 It's an hour long radio show from the BBC, hosted by none other then.......... Brad Pitt? Which I thought a little odd, but it's a really great listen, I never new to much about him except from Joe Boyd's book tour. It gives some details behind his mental illness, and a good amount of studio talk from Joe Boyd and the the guy who engineered all his sessions.
  5. That took a little deep sea memory fishing, I never did get that sporty Ipod Nano, bummer.
  6. I'll never understand this attitude, especially on a board for a band like Wilco, that I imagine is all for supporting art at all levels.
  7. just scored some freebee tix. for tonights show! A nice start to the weekend
  8. Yep, I knew he was gone, when I turned on the radio and they where playing Terrpain Station in it's entirety. Anyway, without even being aware of todays anniversary, I listened to a show i just downloaded from 83, it's was pretty decent. I'll twist one up and throw Europe 72 on the hifi tonight that's fo sho.
  9. Mark Olson-Salvation Blues Richard and Linda Thompson- Shoot out the Lights Neko Case and Her Boyfriends- The Virginian Dusty Springfield- A Brand New Me Crowded House-Time on Earth
  10. This sucks, I didn't know the band personally but played a gig with them last year, a very good band. Lets just hope now the drummer pulls thru ok.
  11. I may have missed if there was a thread about this one but, Anyone else pick this up yet? Just about thru my first listen, I dig it alot so far, with some definite stand outs that are up there with there best work. I have really grown to love Neil Finn's songwriting more and more as I get older ( not old, just older ), and goddamn his voice which has always been great IMO, just gets better, and am really looking forward to hearing him sing live for this first time.
  12. Me too, I stopped goin to shows in 93, i get my fix from my old tapes, and of course now the Archive.
  13. The Original Harmony Ridge Creek Dippers , there first home recorded release. Something about this one for me, I describe it as sadness in the joy, there's alot of joy and alot of sorrow, and there's life for you. And then when your feeling a little better, throw on Chuck Berry's 'the great 28' and dance around like an old fool.
  14. He's got a new one out on Yep Roc, good stuff! http://www.yeproc.com/artist_info.php?artistId=54
  15. strangely enough, Tommy Gunn was on the Philly Local news recently on a story about the porn industry. I thought the song was just OK, might be better in the context of the record.
  16. Thanks for this by the way, never heard this version or was aware of it even. Just finsihed listening, great stuff!
  17. For anyone in or around Philly, a fantastic new Record Store has opened up on 5th and Girard. It's called Tequila Sunrise ( not the coolest name, I know, but pay no mind ). Excellent stuff, great condition, and affordable. It's about 2 blocks from my house which makes the idea of actually saving money that much more difficult.
  18. I wish I new you back then to join you J4lackey, although at 14 in 87' I probably would have ended up just an annoyance to you. I always love hearing these stories, I never did more than 2 or 3 shows at a time. Looks like it's already been covered, but when it comes to the Dead, I must chime in. Europe 72 Workingmans American Beauty Live Dead one from the Vault Live from the Mars Hotel Wake of The Flood Bootlegs- 8/6/71 @ Hollywood Palledium 8/27/72 @ Old Reaissanse fair grounds Oregon 2/27/77 swing Auditorium 11/24/78 Cap theatre
  19. I agree, I don't really enjoy listening to anything past 1980, therefore almost don't ever, except on occassion I listen to bits of some of the shows I attended in the early 90's.
  20. Indeed, I would say Neko's first record 'The Virginian' is one of the Finest alt. country records.
  21. I might be pissed enough to punch a guy if he broke my sisters heart, but at the end of the day it would still have nothing to do with me.
  22. All I can say to this, is that's impossible to understand completely why relationships go south, but it happens alot and can happen to the best of us. Why not leave the personal stuff to the privacy of the people involved, where it belongs. Damn! I think I followed the wrong path, I should be a publicist.
  23. My favorite of 2007 thus far! and the soundtrack to my week at the Jersey shore.
  24. Just picked up Ricky Nelsons 2 country records from 66, and 67, available in one collection. Fans of Elvis and all the various Gram Parsons projects should pick this up, it
