  1. Thanks for all the responses, I've been playing music for years, but never developed much on the engineer/recording side, allways had someone around me with a better understanding. I'd also like to hear some recordings, I'll post something myself later
  2. The title track is the Jam! almost as Jamming as 'Drowmnn your Cousin Itt" I didn't think I'd ever care for buying a son volt record again.
  3. I completely missed this show and Johnny b.s is in my hood, but alas I must go to the Apples in Stereo at the North Star.
  4. Crooked Rain, Crooked rain blew me away and at the time most of friends listened to nothin but Phish and it was driving me mad! and I was musically lost. For that I am forever grateful!
  5. Roy orbison, John Lennon, Elvis, Dusty Springfield, Richard Manuel, and Rick Danko are my favs
  6. These guys are like The Strokes of the south, I saw them drive off from a gig in a Benz with Chicks that where way to hot for them. They are a good band that'll probably be a household name this year ( well, households of Vcer's and the like anyway ).
  7. I Don't Want To Hear It Anymore- Dusty in memphis heartbreaker!
  8. I highly recommend John Phillips first solo lp
  9. I rememeber listening to the Beatles early hits collection ( the red cover ) on a little boombox in my bunk bed many times over, also remember having a strange fascination with Steve Miller's Abracadabra, I taped off of MTV with my boombox, must have sounded terrible. My 3 year old nephew digs The Breeders 'Cannonball' and XTC's 'Peter Pumpkin head'
  10. I still have 'Month of Sundays' in the rotation, lots of pretty tunes, nice to see them back to it.
  11. I guess mine would be John Lennon-Imagine, it was complete with the fold out poster of him on the white piano in the white room, which is now framed and hangs in my living room.
  12. I think it's awesome what they accomplished independently with that last record, but I can't get into this band even a little, just try to listen to the myspace stream, couldn't get past the first tune.
  13. I too dig the Fountains of Wayne, but can understand your reaction if your first impression was 'Stacy's Mom', my first impression was 'Radiation Vibe' which was refreshing compared to what was on Mtv at the time, you know back when Mtv played videos. It's hard to imagine not liking that band to some degree if you check out there albums.
  14. agreed. I was expecting either one of the first 2 tunes off the 'Wincing' which I think are fantastic, 'New Slang' seemed a little phoned in.
  15. Harrison Living in the material world- the light that has lighted the world Plastic ono band- my mummys dead (it
  16. A superb player, and from the article it seems there was alot more to him then just that, that's something to be admired. RIP
  17. "says Hagar, who received the official word of Van Halen's selection at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Mexico, where he and Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony have spent the past week jamming with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith in a newly developing side project called Chickenfoot." This would have been an odd lineup 20 years ago but I guess not so much anymore, reguardless, can't wait to hear some chickenfoot!
  18. Just read Indubious Battle recently, not that epic that is Eat of Eden, but a great story about a labor strike and some insight in to the communist party movement in America at the time. Never read Grapes, but is on the list. Just began 'The places in between' by Rory Stewart.
  19. Santa left these under my tree The Grateful Dead movie Roy Orbison - A Black and White Night Elvis - the Sullivan shows James Burton- guitar lessons on DVD! can't wait to learn the chicken pick! otehr favs The Band- classic albums( the brown record ) Imagine The Clash- westway to the world of couse, No Direction Home, and Don't look back
  20. The Flamingos- I only have eyes for you Fleetwood Mac- Hold Me well, they are the last 2 tunes I purchased anyway
