  1. No doubt! Always a favorite. I don't think I've ever heard their real set. When I think of Watkins Glen, I think of this soundcheck. Apparently just popped up on YouTube, the Dead in NOLA with Nevilles and the Bangles doing Iko http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/video-the-night-the-grateful-dead-met-the-bangles/
  2. Whoa, I feel like I dropped in from another planet, have never heard of most of what has been mentioned here. I couldn't argue with the Dave's Picks. And I will add: Heartless Bastards- Arrow and the Lee Renaldo Band release is really good.
  3. Stumbled ino this one tonight. We came to D.C. To visit our son, who casually mentioned last night that Lettuce and Soulive were playing the 9:30'Club tonight. So we made it a family outing to the Royal Family Ball tonight. My first visit to the famous 9:30 Club was a rager.
  4. They just come out smoking at that Wolftrap show, those first 3 songs kill, and it doesn't let down. At least to my ears. Plus you get Laminated Cat and Christ for President.
  5. I have 3 of the Roadcase shows: 6-23 Redrocks, 7-25 NYC and 7-18 Wolftrap, Vienna. Also have non-Roadcase versions of 9-22 Berkeley and 7-8 Geneva. All good, wouldn't knock any of them, but if you were asking which *1* to buy of the ones I have, I'd say Wolftrap, Vienna stands out above the rest.
  6. Sunday morning on the treadmill with these guys. I just love a pro shot show:
  7. Heartless Bastards tonight in Boston.
  8. Which generated quite a bit of discussion in the comments section. To my mind, '72-74 is just one big year, but when forced to pick a single year i usually split the baby and go with '73.
  9. Good post and discussion over at Hidden Track on the 5 best/favorite years, with links to top 5 shows of each of the 5 best years. http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/the-b-list-the-year-of-the-dead/comment-page-1/#comment-767607
  10. From the Gathering of the Vibes channel on YouTube
  11. We spent almost 2 weeks there in July several years ago. Never set foot in San Jose. When we got there we spent one night in a beautiful asian style villa/hotel outside the city, can't remember the name, then flew down to Manuel Antonio for several days. Then had a driver take us up to the cloud forest, Monteverde. That was fantastic, but don't do the drive on your own. Spent a few days there. I think we did the zip line up there. Then we ended in a rented house just off the beach in Tamarindo. Great trip.
  12. Homicide, Life on the Streets. Actually I'm a little shocked it hasn't already been mentioned (at least I didn't see it). My hands down favorite show of all time. Close seconds: Sopranos, The Wire, Ally McBeal, Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, All in the Family, and of course The Munsters My wife and I love Episodes.
  13. Just lost the broadcast. Back. Theologians.
  14. I was a huge Replacements fan in the day. I haven't listened to them at all in years. Until I saw the trailer for CMO. Now revisiting the catalog, the direct line from the Replacements to Wilco is unmistakeable and stunning to me. No wonder I love them both.
  15. That's correct: http://www.nola.com/treme-hbo/index.ssf/2012/09/hbos_treme_renewed_for_a_fourt.html
  16. From a Treme blog at the Times Picayune site: Annie and Marvin Frey talk contract at Stella! as “The Truth of The Blues” by Dr Michael White, “Li’l Duke’s Strut” by Nicholas Payton and “Fatimah” by Irvin Mayfield play in the background. Shannon McNally’s live CD. Wilco’s first album, “A.M.” Frey is tight with the band’s management, and knows that Jeff Tweedy loves to introduce up-and-coming artists that he’s into.
  17. Really, has that been announced? Is this the last season? That would be a shame.
  18. This show crackles with energy. I've got a lot of shows from the TWL tour, but this one jumps right out of the speakers at me. May be the best I've heard.
  19. Yes, that was neat. For those who are familiar with Treme but didn't see this, Annie was meeting with some guy to be her agent. She was telling him that she's going with a different sound, and the agent says she's describing Wilco and A.M. Annie loves Wilco and says A.M. is one of her favorites. Then the agent says "I'm close with their management. Tweedy likes to bring new bands along, I'll speak to them about getting you an opening slot." Or words to that effect. Pretty cool.
  20. Mine came in a couple of days ago. Sounds great. The original Live at Keystone was always among our favorite of all GD related releases. Very glad to have this. One interesting tidbit: the box comes with a poster of the Keystone calendar for the month. Ten days after these 2 classic shows, Jerry was back with Old and In the Way. Amazing to me.
