Foods you eat that others despise

The lime pickle floats my boat. Salty, spicy, sour...... droolicious! -
I think I read a JT interview where he compared Ryan Adams to John Mellencamp. In a not nice way.

I pick Animal Transmogrification Girl, too. Then I could be a seagull flying over the parking lot instead of the lady who has to park in the parking lot to go to Bed Bath & Beyond the week before Christmas!

So what stops are you all pulling out for the holidays? I'd have thought this thread would be busier this time of year. Every Christmas Eve, my mom makes standing rib roast that she dry-ages for a few days in the fridge. It is the most delicious roast beast that I eat all year! Sometimes there are popovers or Yorkshire pudding to go with... nothing like beef drippings to bring on the deliciousness. Wait, maybe I should start The Eating Thread and just post there!

Live versions differing from album versions
smells like flowers replied to Atticus's topic in Just A Fan
Me too. It's one of my very favorite songs, but the live version doesn't do it for me. Even when they played it live with the synth, the studio version was better. It's like those notes never hit exactly the right place, except for on ST. Also prefer the live version of Laminated Cat. It's kind of subdued on the record, but when played live the drums sound really tribal, and I love those trippy sounds that Mikael plays. -
Definitely and unequivocally YES!

Your children's taste in music

"A New World Record" takes a spin on the turntable periodically, of course. Funny, cuz I was just her age when Telephone Line rocked my world with its creepy, yet poignant sound. And what Top 40 loving 10-year old could resist Don't Bring Me Down?! Not me! -

My 9 -year old daughter has decided that "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" is her new favorite song. Argghhh!!! But, on a happy note, she also discovered that she really likes ELO. All is not lost. -

My personal fave and in lots of exceptionally good films. I couldn't sit through Pirate Radio, though. But I do love me some Scotty J.! -
Just browsing through the VC posts as usual, and there I see my friend Joe's name! Joe Adragna is a good friend, hereby made famous on this Minus 5 network illustration. It's a small, small world.

Thankfulness 2013, Part Three: Food and Drink
smells like flowers replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Today at my gardening job, I picked some basil to go on my veggie and hummus sandwich, knowing that the approaching cold front will mean the end of basil til next spring.... So I'm especially thankful for basil -- the very essence of warm weather. In the drinks division, I'm especially looking forward to the Brut Rosé that I like with the Thanksgiving meal. Dry, tart, berry favors with enough bubbly acidity to cut through the richness of everything on the plate. Pink champagne may have been a total cliche in the seventies, but I absolutely love it! Sounds life-alteringly good. I need to ma -

Nice threads, Donna! Fun to both read and add to. Today and forevermore, I am thankful for my best friend Kelly. We've been BFFs since the seventh grade in 1981. Early on in our friendship, she was impressed by my mom's collection of Beatles records, and one night on the phone, she asked me to play her "Hey Jude." I did so, on my older brother's turntable, and a minute or two into the song, I heard a sniffle. "Are you crying?," I asked her, incredulous. She admitted she was. Fast forward 32 years later, to Solid Sound 2013. I had managed to convert her to Wilco fandom a year or so earlier.
