Haven't been to Bok Tower -- sounds like I need to put it on my to-do list. I'm definitely an old house lover and a gardeny type, too! I'm pretty sure a good Florida list should also include Weeki Wachee Springs, where they have a live mermaid show (!) but sadly, I haven't been there!

Oh, man, do I love that record. It is sublime.

Florida is a huge state, but here are some of my favorite places/things to do: Juniper Springs/Ocala Nat'l Forest for a canoe ride (watch for big old gators!) Camping at Cape San Blas in the Panhandle Old house ogling in St. Augustine South Beach for the Art Deco architecture Cuban food at La Teresita in Tampa

I wasn't busting on the song! Although their cover sounds to me like Bob Welch's version from 1977 -- and it is a schocky am radio seventies song! I happen to also have a soft spot for that oeuvre (Bread, America, Little River Band, for example). Don't get your collective panties in a bunch!

Well, we already know Pat and John like schlocky seventies' stuff (Sentimental Lady!) I like the idea of Wilco being playful with the fans and letting the experience be an interchange. With the band playing live so often and lots of fans coming to multiple shows per tour, I think it's fun that there will be some spontaneous exchange. Anyway, it's only going to be a couple of covers and a Stump the Band encore. The rest of Friday night is Wilco songs. Also, something tells me that Jeff isn't going to play anything he doesn't want to play, in spite of the mob rules on the request line.

How funny would it be if one of them chose to cover a song by the Eagles, Foreigner, or insert-bad-classic-rock-band here. What if Wilco dudes have potentially bad musical taste?!

"Cowboy Song" -- Thin Lizzy or "Gimme Three Steps" like at the final UT show! Really, anything by Skynyrd would float my boat.

Meatballs is still on my top 10 movies list! And, you folks (all gentlemen, I presume) have neglected to mention that Mr. Murray is a sexy beast -- so I'll say it.

Both years the food and beer choices and prices have been great, IMO. I'm not a beer snob so was happy with $4 Budweiser drafts. Food seemed more plentiful the first year, somehow. I think there were more food trucks year one. Also, as some have mentioned, the porto-potties the second year were moved way back from the field, so it was quite a hike to make it there and back, and the ankle deep mud didn't help! But the festival on the whole as good as it gets, hands down.

Plus you really won't want to leave.

Dogshit or not, I am enjoying the recent treasures you've unearthed for our enjoyment -- thanks for posting, Rambing Syd! I guess the upswing of interviews and stuff is related to the next album cycle (wonder how Jeff really feels about it -- necessary evil?) but I for one am glad for some nice new publicity morsels to sink the old teeth into!

Never got to see the band while Jay was part of it, but to me there's a bit of Jay = heart, while Nels = brains. Just from watching footage of the band with Jay, he is IN it. He (with Jeff, of course) was Wilco. With Nels, it seems more like he is a member of Wilco, as well as his various other musical projects. He has a reservedness that makes it seem like he isn't as close to the songs as Jay was. (Well, Jay wrote and co-wrote, so perhaps it is silly after all to compare the two.)

I think the list of Wilco songs not about love would be much shorter than the list of the ones that are! But I'm too lazy to do it....

While I kept hearing references to JT talking about shitting his pants, I somehow missed the actual account of it (or maybe it did get edited out). I'm confused. I got all snuggled in with my headphones to listen to this, and it started sounding familiar. The part right at the beginning where JT talks about Van Halen bringing pretty girls backstage. I know I've heard that. Has this aired before and been posted on VC? Or am I just crazy or psychic?

Can't believe I call myself a Wilco superfan and I'd never listened to this until last week. I've heard Ruling Class enough over the years, but every other song was brand new to me. Hey Chicken has been an earworm all day today. This belated discovery was just what I needed to cure the Wilco over-exposure blues that struck after 5 live shows last year. And Wreckroom, holy shit.

Ripthisjoint908, enjoy your Wilco passion. I miss mine. I got obsessed and overdid a great thing, and now I don't have nearly the level of interest that I did a while back. Catch them live whenever possible! I'm so glad we have Solid Sound this year to roll around in the Wilco love for a couple days in a row and rekindle the flame!
