  1. Warning! Girlie Jeff-adoring post just ahead.... I know there's a whole thread devoted to Jeff's hair (!) but I have to say he looked so much better with his hair short and off his face than he does with the shaggy look he's been wearing of late. It's so much better to be able to see his whole face and his eyes.
  2. So, so true. If you add up all the bucks that every candidate spent for every office to be decided on Tuesday, you'd probably be able to feed every hungry person and medicate every sick person from here to Timbuktu.
  3. Just re-lived the Tampa show from this past May. It was great for me at the time, and it's every bit as fabulous the second time around. The audience was pretty chatty near the taper, and Jeff's vocals are a bit buried, but I still enjoyed every last bit. The energy at that show was so good, and some real nuggets on the setlist (Company in My Back! Summer Teeth!). Just love the site, tommyjacobs! So great.
  4. Yeah. I do mourn the loss of that ship, but the last I heard Superstorm Sandy has claimed 39 lives. So, so terrible.
  5. As a somewhat enthusiastic yoga practitioner and a VERY enthusiastic Wilco fan, I can safely say whoever chose those particular songs for doing yoga to had their head up their ass... a challenging asana to say the least!
  6. I am very sad about this. The Bounty docked here in St. Augustine last April and really cast a spell over me. The ship was breathtaking. RIP.
  7. Nothing like sarcasm in the face of compassion! Thanks, Donna. It's a windy day in NE Florida and as always, I'm hoping for some rain (the gardener in me loves a good soaking). Hope we don't have to batten down the hatches, though, cuz there's nothing in the fridge but 5 lbs of half-smokes and a few cans of Costa Rican beer.
  8. Tiny percentage, but made up of: De La Soul Jurassic 5 Brand New Heavies Definitely jazz-influenced stuff. White people's black music.
  9. To top off the heady mix of Wilco synchronicity, I turned on the radio in the car this am, switched from NPR to the local college station, and was blasted with the fuzzy bass line of "I Might!" It struck me as such kismet after reading Linclink's post about hearing "What Light" at a personal crossroads, and then I've been toying around with taking a Wilco hiatus, and then the universe (okay, the deejay) throws Wilco right in my lap. Nice!
  10. Yeah, I read online somewhere that this is going to be the last season. That's so cool about the Wilco/AM reference on the show! It's great when two things you love, seemingly unrelated, are connected after all. More synchronicity!
  11. I have felt close to saturation lately, after 3 shows in a row this summer and a years-long stretch of listening to mostly Wilco. However, I had some down time yesterday and was cleaning the kitchen and decided to check out the Tipitina's show that's streaming in the roadcase. It's from 2008, the show that was included in the Ashes DVD. Good god, that show chewed me up and spit me out! It started out as a slow burn (Was I in Your Dreams, Pieholden Suite) and closed out with like 20 barn burners. I was utterly spent by the end and my kitchen was sparkling! Won't need to hear any Wilco f
  12. Bought the Roadcase #10 download of this show...it's such a great setlist with some tunes that don't show up very often (Kamera, Candyfloss, I Must Be High). But the highlight of listening to it is Laminated Cat. The song comes across as fairly minimal in a live setting, but I just listened with headphones on and it has so many cool yet subtle sounds layered throughout. NOW I can hear what Mikael and Pat were doing the whole time. Fantastic!
  13. What 'choo talkin' about, Willis? Do you know something we don't know? I realize the event is three days but are there really three nights in a row of Wilco at Solid Sound 2013???
  14. So, no regrets that you let the opportunity go by? A couple of friends and I had the good fortune to meet John after a show this summer (okay, we made the opportunity by waiting near the buses) and he was extremely nice, down-to-earth, and just a regular guy. Lots of folks on this board who have met him have said the same. But it's better to have had the chance and not taken it, then to go around yearning for the chance that never comes, if that makes any sense at all!
  15. I tried to watch but just couldn't stomach it. Agree that Mitt seemed confident and polished, while Obama was not nearly as much so. But neither of them answered the questions directly and they just kept hammering the same points ad nauseum. And that was just in the first five minutes! Wake me up when it's over.
  16. I voted yesterday and I haven't gotten spammed yet!
  17. I bet the Thai food, Mitt and Obama wouldn't have won out if he still looked like this!!!
  18. No one has commented on the sound so far, but this show has my trifecta of favorite songs (Muzzle, Spiders (acoustic) and Monday) so if I'm lucky it will show up in the roadcase!
  19. Boston. Never liked 'em much but came around to appreciate the sheer build and momentum in "More Than A Feeling" era songs. Bruce Springsteen. Had a job at the mall in high school and they used to play these Top 40 mixes all the time. "Glory Days" and "Pink Cadillac" were in heavy rotation. Later my husband made me listen to "Born to Run" one summer on vacation in New Jersey and that was all she wrote.
