  1. I thought these guys were British until fairly recently. I love "Yoga Means Union."
  2. Wow - this is not just a negative review (by Jim DeRogatis) but it verges on being petty and unprofessional. http://www.wbez.org/blogs/jim-derogatis/2014-04/return-afghan-whigs-110063
  3. That was the first tape that I ever got. Love the Fire on the Mountain on that one.
  4. Yes - pretty horrendous behavior from the top all the way down to the bottom. But also some remarkable stories of people pitching in and helping each other. And weird stories like former NFL football player JaMarcus Russell letting Fats Domino stay at his apartment in Baton Rouge.
  5. Just got this email from ticketmaster: Join us for an evening with GREGG ALLMAN w/ Special Guest JAIMOE'S JASSSZ BAND as he takes the Newport Yachting Center Stage on Sunday, August 10th. Watch as these Rock & Roll Hall of Famers take over the Newport Waterfront with their soulful voices and unmistakable sounds of blues and Southern rock.

  12. By far the most I've ever spent on a ticket was the approximately $200 I spent for my daughter to go see Taylor Swift last summer. For a show that I actually attended I'm guessing it was Neil Young/Wilco which I think was about $75.
  13. I went to New Orleans for the first time a couple of weeks ago so I thought I should read this.
  14. Agreed - and I love it. I know people who never use it and I am the opposite. I listen on shuffle probably half the time I'm listening to music.
  15. Looks like April 24 is the date (and there are a bunch of other guests): http://www.avclub.com/article/yo-la-tengo-will-also-be-part-parks-and-recreation-202769
  16. A couple of months ago I saw a great lecture/performance by Wynton Marsalis called "New Orleans: the Birth of Jazz." Much of it was a lecture but he had a crack band with him and as he talked about specific pieces of music or explained how a song sounded when it was played in different styles, the band would play. It was pretty illuminating. These names may mean more to others but his band was Lucien Barbarin (trombone), Jonathan Batiste (piano), Troy Davis (drums), Vince Giordano (tuba/bass), Victor Goines (reeds), Ricky Gordon (percussion), Marcus Printup (cornet), Don Vappie (banjo/guit
  17. For the first time since 1998 the Yankees do not have the highest payroll in baseball.

  19. One of my musical regrets is that I ignored my cousin when he urged me to go see that show at TTs.
