  4. brilliant Wendell....I too love Abandoned Luncheonette on my top 25 albums of all time. Certainly captures a beautiful moment in time. As to the question, at hand, my answers are by decade. 70's:Van Halen on a bill with Cheap Trick and Bob Seger.....I turned to my fella and said WTF was that Same thin as above for ACDC 80's: GNR club in LA dragged there by a friend...the rest, as they say was history. 90's: Los Lobos, have been seeing them every since when every I can. 00's: The Hold Steady. Didn't get them on record or by reputation...was blown away. MMJ(thannk you Wendy and Ms.Y
  5. Happy Birthday Judy....May your wishes all come true
  6. This is such a complex issue. I know this, if we think the guys with the money were greedy wait til we realize what the EPA and the FDA and their corporate sponsors have been up to. Pesticides and corporate farming are huge money making businesses. Just take a look at Monsanto's record around GMO 's and seeds. Here is a link to one film about this: http://www.thefutureoffood.com/synopsis.htm It is a fact that the food we eat is no longer filled with the nutrients we need. GMO seeds and the injection of pesticides into seeds to make them resistant to disease and pests is so mind blowing that
  7. Wow you guys are music lovers I'm with Lammy and Jim on the GD thing 150 plus When I lived in LA it was: Rollins Band,Meat Puppets, Firehose, and Violent Femmes (SST ruled) and Guns N F'n Roses Others with more than a dozen: Todd Rundgren, Elvis Costello,Dylan, Petty, Drive BY Truckers, Lucinda Williams, Richard Thompson, Los Lobos,Neil Young, Jackie Green and of course Wilco/Tweedy. As I like to say Jerry has my house and Tweedy has my car. I feel I've had my priorities straight my whole life
  8. Lucinda is wonderful. She is authentic, true to herself, and brings it most nights I have seen her. Once, at the Fillmore, she was super late and cranky. Quite frankly, even on that rough night, she brought tears to my eyes several times. I think she will go down as one of the best songwriters of our time. Love her. Glad she is still out there making it happen. As to the songbook...too many songs to remember all the lyrics, I think.
  9. Thanks for the link Calvino...nice to see that this morning
  10. Whoa what a crazy episode. I think Ben has been killing off people for a long time that threaten the island in some way. He killed off the whole Dharma initiative and they are the ones that "understand" how the island moves, ect.... A-Man, I'm gonna be late for work again because of that link
  11. Sounds like the perfect Birthday! Does this mean you will no longer be a Francoeur Frank?
  12. Oh Lammy, thank you! What a beautiful way to start the day. Being able to watch that sweet voice and solo...isn't this modern age amazing
  13. I'm so happy that DBC got to come to the rock show. What an amazing opportunity for the fans and the band without Patterson. You folks probably have read the 9 Bullets thread on these shows. My favorite quota from over there : "I also loved the way Shonna kept pouring booze on the carpet for Patterson, like you do for the santos." Quite frankly I think that its great that they are taking the time off, as I doubt Cooley's voice, or his liver would have held for another 4 nights. What a guy.
  14. Oh, that Sean Penn forcing those San Francisco values on everyone, just like Mrs. Pelosi I agree with y'all on separate category for comedy.
  15. Okay, is anyone else having to watch this one a few more times than usual? "We're not going to Guam are we?"
  16. I once had my mind blown on a hike in this park: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/columbia/recreation/waterfalls.shtml The trails just go on and on in this area. So many negative ions that you are high as can be and I swear look physically altered, if my pictures are any proof as usual take some of the less traveled paths: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/columbia/maps/Short_Loops.pdf
  17. Thank you for the link, I think The whole bit around jobs and students today is fascinating and really puts our economic recovery program in perspective. I'd say more money to teachers less to financial guys on the next go round
  18. Oh yeah! I haven't watched this one yet but was astounded by the one with Renee Fleming. Who was joined by Rufus Wainwright and Kate McGarrigle. Getting to cue up an episode On Demand is one of the highlights of my week. And Matt, Momofuku is great....thanks for pushing me on that one.
  19. Epic show...the folks at Nine bullets said there were tapers.... Hope PHood recovers from pneumonia and is back at the Rock Show soon
  20. Don't know the deal with Kimock other than he has always played with amazing folks....guess he didn't like his experience with P&F per the "Maggie's Farm" comment, huh? Hope Jackie gets to come out and play with the boys on a few shows I would love to see that but ain't holding my breath.
  21. Absolutely, Jackie has grown in leaps and bounds, thanks to Phil. Jackie gave such a heartfelt thanks to Phil and the Deadheads at NYE. I am always astounded by Phil's tutoring of folks. I've always thought he saved Ryan Adams life (along with divine intervention). Just an amazing guy that Phil Lesh.
  22. Wow really beautiful. Loved the whole thing but especially the end about the "cinematic feeling" he hopes the record evokes. Gotta say, his songs have always done that for me. What a great songwriter coming into his own. Thanks for the link.
