  1. Lammy, it was a pretty quiet announcement on Jackie's website as special guests last month.I got "the phone call" to buy tics just like the old days The show was way sold out. GAMH is such an amazing venue and to see that second set get "so big and swirly" in such a small space was incredible. Jackie and Phil have such an amazing friendship. I am a big Jackie fan and it was so great to see him really nail it. He kinda lead the band last night with a cheerleader like direction on people taking solos, pure joy. His rapport with Bobby seemed really strong and the set really flowed. So much more
  2. I am still trying to wrap my mind around last nights show at GAMH. Second set with Phil, Bobby and Jackie Green acoustic was amazing. Then the closing set was electric with Phil,Bobby,Mark Karan and Steve Molitz with Jackie and his band(that makes 5 guitar players uh huh!). Acoustic set: Casey Jones, Me and My Uncle, Ramble On Rose, Cassidy, Box of Rain Electric set: Shakedown Street, Bertha, Scarlet Begonias, U.S. Blues, New Speedway Boogie, Minglewood Blues, Sugaree All I can say is the electric set was one for the record books. Jackie recently wrote a bit about his experience this s
  3. Went to see Jackie Green last night. Phil and Bobby played with him between sets.Wonderful acoustic versions of Friend of the Devil,Dire Wolfe, Peggy O, Deep Elem Blues and Ripple. All in amazing voice and harmonies...my friend said it felt like Reckoning at the Warfield in 1980. Off to see round two tonight . Saw some tapers so perhaps a preview of what's to come will be up on the internets soon.
  4. Wow wow wow....What nice memories you all are stirring up. All week long amazing memories have been popping into my mind. It is such an honor to have spent those fabulous few days with all of you. Everyone's kindness and spirit is still resonating for me. Jeff and Sue certainly have set a wonderful example for compasion and giving. It is such a beautiful experience to be with music geeks doing great work. Giving money to a great cause and enjoying such a special musical event. As for the Gliers,Wendy and Edie words fail me. Your genorousity is astonding...what a gift. So, when are we having "T
  5. Hope the year is filled with much joy and great music...thanks for all the great knowledge you pass along everyday!
  6. "Nice to meet you." A-Man thank you I think for the link...I think
  7. Couldn't agree more,Solace. I knew he was on the right track in November when we saw him at Cafe du Nord. Nice to see him returning to San Francisco at a bigger venue.
  8. Like a Greek tragedy....think I'll put on the Freebird Movie tonight. RIP.
  9. Welcome to the club...I think this band is so amazing live. I am still smiling from the Fillmore shows in November. Patterson has a ton of integrity and is just an amazing story teller. Cooley can turn a phrase and has am amazing economy of words. The rest of the folks in the band are so solid. And the folks they have been hanging out with are pretty incredible too. One of many examples: http://www.thrasherswheat.org/2009/01/pota...y-truckers.html
  10. Pink Houses into Sunken Treasures that day. One of my personal favorite musical days. I have always loved JCM lyrics. They truly paint a picture for me being from Indiana and having spent a lot of time on those roads in and around Bloomington. I always look forward to a little JCM overload when I go home.
  11. Well that thread is pretty intense. It is never easy to come to terms with ones shame. I'm keeping a good thought for him. I'll bet the writing will continue and be brilliant.
  12. Oh so Brilliant DKN...Sen. Leahy as the roadie love love love that. Nice set list. I am so glad we had VC represented at this event. Here's a tidbit from Leah Garchik's column: Mickey Hart, who played with the Dead at the Mid-Atlantic Ball, says that after the gig he was backstage talking with Jennifer Lopez when Michelle Obama walked in, "and Jennifer Lopez just disappeared. ... This woman's got power." Thank you so much for the link to You tube!
  13. OMG I loved the recap with the writer and director too. There is so much to take in and I gotta say that they packed a lot into 2 hours. I am so glad its gonna be a full season of shows...its gonna be amazing to ponder the time travel/4th dimension stuff. Something I feel like I do in certain places on the planet anyway.... Are they going back so they can reverse time and everyone will be alive again? So many big questions about what they "owe to the island or vice versa. Who are the two lawyers working for? As usual still a lot of questions unsolved.
  14. Welcome to VC...you'll find many NY fans here as well as lots of great new artists. I think Wilco fans are so onto all kinds of great artists. I know you'll have fun here.
  15. Welcome to VC. You are sure to find some fellow music lovers here and always great tips on art of all sorts.
  16. Couldn't agree more.We are a solid crew at work around this show and always do a special antherium and orchid display in honor of the show(To Do:1. Lost Display ) We are plant geeks what can I say
  17. Another fun thing to do on my winter vacation . Thanks for the heads up.
  18. Wonderful article....so glad John Neff is pushing PH along should prove to be a great album. Hope they road test it a bit this summer
  19. I am gonna try to clean up my collection of stuff perhaps you would like some of it. Though you probably have most of whats out there! I resolve to walk in the park more, read more books, see more films and get to more shows at the museum this year. Last year I saw a ton of music and will probably continue to do that this year however would like to balance that with other stuff....time will tell.
  20. Alot of memorable trips to see the Grateful Dead. My favorite one was Eugene to San Francisco with a great picnic at Castle Crags Park. I had flown up from LA and the leg into Eugene was filled with tie dyed people including Owsley who entered the cabin and exclaimed it was the most freaks on one flight he had ever seen. He sat by me was very nice and was carrying a silver brief case The shows were great and I got a ride home with my buddies who showed me the beautiful state of Oregon. Now it seems most of them live there! I once spent a week hanging out in several parts of south Florid

  22. Barry was on fire on NYE. And MB is right about how nice he is. At Hardly Strictly he was checking out the other bands and was just one of the folks. I like Warren but Barry brings it great steel player and quite frankly I was floored by his performance NYE with P&F. No one can turn a phrase like Jerry did however when I saw Warren and the boys in Indy sometime in the past 6 years I thought he did a nice job with the Jerry vocals. As a side note Jackie Greene has done some fantastic work with Phil. The Sugaree from the Warfield/Obama benefit continues to be in rotation for me almost a year
  23. Beautiful evening last night at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium Every bit of it played with intensity and purpose. Some nice changes to well known songs. Phil and Friends (No Campbell but a stellar performance from Barry Sless) set should be sought out it was amazing. The midnight band was a combo of Ratdog and P&F. Before midnight all the children on stage dancing in front of a sea blue green curtain like angel/mermaids?and throwing white roses while a giant Terrapin eyes made of lights a blaze was lowered from its hiding place flipped over and count down on a screen on its belly.
