  2. I am enjoying it very much so far. Not for those who do not like (ancient) history though - as it is heavy on facts and there are a lot of individuals to get a handle on in the 50 years or so of intrigue and turmoil that followed the death of A the G. Very interesting for me as I have a grasp of general ancient Greek history, and then Roman, but this fills in the gap. For something perhaps a bit more readable but no less valid, I would recommend 2 excellent books by Tom Holland - Persian Fire & Crossing The Rubicon. I have one other about the years after the fall of the Roman Empire, but h
  3. TWEEDY Ithaca 24th September. On sale this week. Get them while they're hot. http://www.syracuse.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2014/08/jeff_tweedy_of_wilco_to_play_state_theatre_of_ithaca_in_september.html
  4. That's good news, especially to those who are unlikely to ever attend. Maybe it's release will be timed as advertising for the 2015 version. I remember there was a video clip of rehearsing one of the covers, but I forget which thread it was in.
  5. Further confirmation that there was a film project in the offing that seems to have died a death. http://www.berkshirefinearts.com/07-02-2013_behind-the-scenes-with-wilco-at-mass-moca.htm
  6. The guru of disheveled - the late great Fred Dibnah Runner up: 60s and 70s TV presenter John Noakes, who set my style for a lifetime, supplemented by Mike Nesmith and Barry John.
  7. I can vouch for it's awesomeness - for my trip some time ago made up of one third JT solo, one third glorious Emmylou, and one third wonderful hosts. Not to mention finally getting to see Gillian Welch & Dave Rawlings, Neko Case, Nick Lowe, Steve Earle, and some of the great bluegrass old timers. You should see Emmylou's traditional closing Sunday set, but if you are more tempted by some other favourite on another of the stages at that time, then don't miss her also traditional Sunday 9am soundcheck. Great memories . . . From the days when I used to help out with this UK website star
  8. There's a very nice vibe to that. For me, best use of Lucius so far and possibly the song for which I prefer the album version most over the live versions I've heard so far.
  9. Very nice. Interesting to hear some changes to arrangements as the songs evolve since the NYCTaper Mountain Jam show which is the only one I have been listening to.
  10. I like disheveled (as long as it is natural not cultivated). I am a bit disheveled. I would be more if I could get away with it, but I'm mostly a weekend disheveller.
  11. This one will have to wait for me until tomorrow morning. Hope to read what you think of it then (and if anyone mp3's it by then that would be a bonus ...) http://www.npr.org/2014/07/21/333724851/jeff-tweedy-live-in-concert-newport-folk-2014 "Diamond Light Pt. 1" "Flowering" "Summer Noon" "Honey Combed" (Feat. 12. Palin's website ... http://i100.independent.co.uk/article/we-looked-at-sarah-palins-new-website-so-you-dont-have-to--l1H0WjJffl Also, as indicated in a post above, there is also some opinion here that Obama is just phoning it in now.
  13. 4 parts in out of 8 and it's very powerful stuff now after a slow atmospheric start. All the more affecting because of recent events too, unfortunately.
  14. Some nice Mavis and TWEEDY shots here:- http://bdcwire.com/gallery/show-scenes-newport-folk-festival-2014-day-3/ e.g.

  17. Looks like I'll have to wait a bit for that to surface on YouTube hopefully, as the official sites have 'US only viewers' blocking my access.
  18. I concur. Really like that 'in your face' intimate sound.
  19. I stayed in Wales, Wisconsin once a long time ago, and had a day trip to Chicago.
  20. Another Spanish interview from around that time with However, at the 11 minute mark there is a nice solo version of 'Whole Love'. "El Matí de Catalunya Ràdio" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99sSWfsB32o Bono estente!
