  1. Well it might have been curtailed but someone enjoyed it alot:- http://thepost.ohiou.edu/content/skeptical-obsessed-wilco-fan Not actually worth reading, but the line "I’m still not sure how such an unenthusiastic singer could have me so entranced in the music or how a group that seems so straight and laid back on records could use sounds in ways I’ve never experienced" tickled me. decent picture though.
  2. Not as shoe-gazey as that one track. I would say if you like Elbow you will like them too. Emphasis on gritty lyrics. They should have been massive instead of those cliche-merchants Oasis.
  3. I Am Kloot are a Manchester band (though primarily the vehicle for John Bramwell) that have been going for a while but never had the big breakthrough, but generally well received by critics. They are friends with Elbow, and have had a couple of albums produced by Guy Garvey etc. They are generally downbeat and sort of more like Elbow were before they had some success. http://iamkloot.com/ This is my favourite of theirs though from a while back:-

  7. Indeed. The November anniversary edition should be epic - and i am really looking forward to a 'feature length' show. I enjoyed what they tried to do yesterday, but it felt incredibly rushed in 45 minutes. Also, funny how i mentioned Glasgow above, then Strax found it a home from home :-)
  8. Patty Griffin at an in-store, with Robert Plant as very special guest backing vocalist ...
  9. Spiky interview with Ginger Baker in advance of new film. Apparently these are the good bits without the stony silences and one word answers http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/video/2013/may/15/beware-mr-baker-qa-ginger-baker-video

  11. Dropped Wilco HQ a line asking that they publish the full 50 at some point after the event. They replied positively - will put it to the band. That would be fun to see.
  12. I think where I'm going it'll be The Frog Cohrus piped all day every day.
  13. I do much prefer the melodic version, but am interested if there was any logic behind that decision? Simply too many other loud or long songs for one setlist? E.g AoA could fit both categories now. But not even occassionally in rotation? Has JT simply decided the song should always be presented in that (original) form now?

  17. I see, then the answer would be that the south is usually referred to as the 'soft south', and its inhabitants 'soft southerners' by anyone from the north. Mostly due to the historical general increase in heavy industrialisation and therefore 'harder' working class folk as you progress north of the Watford Gap. Probably that sort of thing did not register with me as memorable since it is such a given for Brits. By the time you get to glasgow fighting is more or less a hobby. Surely you remember this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gMJBQoHJ4E Not a fan of Billy Connolly generally, but th
  18. In what sense? Soft London-centric media-basing south-east ignoring the rest of Britain? Accents?
  19. Thanks for sharing! (and nice poster). Is this the same location from which originated that fantastic photo I remember of JT humbly waiting in the toilet queue. Classic.
  20. "Last week the band said it was dropping the price of thousands of premium seats – "flexing" in industry parlance – rather than play to half-empty arenas. The situation was so dire, one insider revealed, that the band's own allotment of tickets was released because of a lack of requests." http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/may/04/rolling-stones-face-pay-cut-ticket-prices-slashed
