  1. i'm going to see them open for the Black Keys next week at Cain's in Tulsa. i'll be sure to bring my earplugs...
  2. mine too. but i think Boog would sign just about anything for anybody while he's sitting on his stool...
  3. i went to Baltimore a month ago and went to a O's/Red Sox game at Camden - Boog's BBQ and beer! a pretty good night...
  4. ha! no, oklahoma... thanks for all your replies, good, bad, and nonsense... i've sat everywhere else in Wrigley for a game when i've visited except the bleachers - figured it'd be a fun experience, you know? Stubhub may be the way to go... i've already been to new Comiskey and really have no plans on going back... what a sterile place to see a game...
  5. i'll probably be in Chicago at the end of June and want to enjoy a Cubs/Brewers game in the bleachers. i've sat in various other sections of Wrigley, but want to try out the fun of the bleachers. They're obviously sold out of them, so I was wanting to find out the best way to get some? craigslist? ebay? scalpers outside? probably not gonna be cheap, right? i just don't wanna get scammed/ripped off...
  6. i know that at least the show in Tulsa is a Camel cigarette-sponsored show, so they're giving away a ton of free tickets (first-come, first-served), then actually selling some at $10/each (guaranteeing you to get in). These sponsored shows are usually put together with a couple of bands that could each be headliners. Dino Jr just got added to the bill a few days ago, but the BK show was announced weeks ago...
  7. got my tix for the Tulsa/Cains show on June 13. better bring my earplugs...
  8. yeah, it was a pretty good roadtrip - good food, good company, good show... all good! the Dallas HOB is a great place to see a show - from the floor, there's really not a bad spot - it's not very deep, so you're never too far from the stage. It got pretty crowded during the show, but nobody was pushing/shoving - people just having a good time - everybody singing and dancing and drinking - a really good vibe from the crowd and band during the show. I started out on the right side towards the front, went to the back for a while and got a Blue Moon, then went up close in front of Ken. I didn't kn
  9. maybe not the KC Royals, but check out the Omaha Royals! http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/index.jsp?sid=t541
  10. you know, i had absolutely no interest in going to a Pres. museum/library, but when me and my buddy were in KC for a Royals/Cards game, he mentioned it was about 5 miles from our hotel (he's into history) and we had an afternoon to kill, so we went and I really liked it (it may have been due to the BBQ/beer sitting in my stomach!). so much so, that i've been to the LBJ and Clinton museums/libraries and hope to go to the Eisenhower one in Abilene, KS. But yeah, it's a pretty great version of US history...
  11. here's some good touristy stuff: Boulevard Brewery Tour www.boulevard.com KC Royals baseball - beautiful stadium! not much to do around the area, though. they serve Gates BBQ in the stadium. http://kansascity.royals.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=kc Negro Leagues Baseball Museum http://www.nlbm.com/ American Jazz Museum http://www.americanjazzmuseum.com/index.php Truman Presidential Library http://www.trumanlibrary.org/ I haven't made it to LC's but can recommend Arthur Bryant's BBQ - but expect to wait a while in line. Pretty sure that wherever you go in KC, the BBQ will be good!
  12. i think we figured out there was no one from Kansas in the front row at a Kansas show...
  13. you were there, too? crazy.... i know i'm dreaing, but a Wilco show at the Zoo Amphitheatre in the summer would be pretty sweet...
  14. cheesy grin??? i'm just happy to be there!
  15. the $120 tix are all gone. now they're $145. that was fast! less than 4 hours...
  16. we'll try and find a pic... Clay - you got a pic to post that has us in it? i can't find the one from Wichita... here's Hold Steady ticket info: http://www.okctickets.com/e/126/holdsteadyillinois/

  18. it's all because of ManBearPig...
  19. very good live - lots of energy - doesn't let up. good times!
  20. ok, I'll be in Baltimore next month and have an evening free. I didn't know how far DC was from there, but apparently it's an hour train ride. Never been there, but I figure why not? So.... I'll probably have 3-4 hours tops in DC from the time I get off the train in Union Station. Any ideas for a really, really quick trip? I figure something on the Mall, right?
  21. Opolis is owned by one of the Starlight Mints, so they've probably got a lot of contacts and get some good groups there - Mountain Goats, John Vanderslice, Spoon, etc... only holds about 150 people, so it's very intimate. Guestroom Records used to be next door, which was a cool way to kill some time before shows, but they've moved to another location. but yeah, more groups should use that I-35/OKC stop as a show option...
