  1. i have no problem seeing bands on a weeknight, no matter how late it may end. but here in OKC it's not a problem to get from "here to there"... any club / venue is no more than a 45-minute drive from my house... i'm nearly 40 and figure i can sleep when i'm dead!
  2. a very solid album... good to hear them rocking again...
  3. BSP will be at a free festival in Norman, OK with the Polyphonic Spree and Octopus Project in late April... i think they'll be worth free, huh?
  4. gotta pay the bills to keep the UFO flying...
  5. i'm greedy what's the name of that place in KC that's outdoors that they use for plays/theater shows/concerts? got a really cool backdrop/stage...
  6. i want another OK show. now. even though Cain's would be hard to top, i'll take my chances.
  7. yes, i am considerably slimmer than what's represented in those pics...
  8. hey! being an Okie, i, uh, well... y'know...
  9. on the jagjaguwar website, he's got nothing scheduled on the 27th (26th he's in Seattle), so i'd guess it's possible? weren't they touring together earlier? i'm seeing Black Mountain next week and have heard great things about their live shows - i really dig their new cd... i got a Ladyhawk cd just the other day and haven't given it a good listen yet... some of it reminds me a little of Neil Young, though...
  10. got married in a Church of Christ, so there was no dancing at the reception... but the first song sung at the wedding was "If" by Bread... WTF? i should've paid more attention to the actual wedding details, methinks...
  11. in the new Rolling Stone, there's an article about Wilco's residency, and they talk about their upcoming tour and they mention that Cain's is one of Tweedy's favorite venues and his quote is something like "i can't think of any other place where both Bob Wills and the Sex Pistols have played."
  12. good things will come to those who wait...
  13. my favorite Tweedy quote from Tulsa: "if this goes down as the best rock-n-roll show in history, it'll need an asterisk, because i got a steroid shot today and i'm totally f*cking ripped!"
  14. Mexicali Border Cafe down the street from Cain's is really good Mexican food - last time i was there i was with some friends who were vegetarians and they came away full and happy... the story also involves cops, priests, and the Black Keys, but that's for another storytime...
  15. yeah, we weren't in town too long, so we went to the "name" places... i regret not hitting Neely's for sure... but those dry ribs and the BBQ nachos are outtasite! and who cares if the Redbirds suck? it's minor league baseball - it's supposed to suck! nice stadium, too... and they serve Leiny Red on tap!
  16. i beg to differ! there's some neat things in Memphis... the dry ribs at Rendezvous... wet ribs at Corky's... Graceland!... MLK-Lorraine Motel... Memphis Redbirds baseball...the ducks at the Peabody... not a big fan of Beale Street, though... all the music coming out the doors sounded the same, and not very good... further west on I-40 is Little Rock and the Clinton Presidential Library, which is pretty cool, architectural-wise and for all the history inside... i thought Oxford, MS was a neat college town, the Square is a cool area with great places to eat and a great bookstore... Clarksd
  17. the following non-Kansans all met at the Wichita show in October '06... me creativetype edie kidsmoke (thanks for the lemon peanuts!) m. christine oceanman

  20. well, it did kind of stick out! and for all my 39 years of living in OK, i've never even been to Ponca! but we do have some great Mexican food in these parts...
  21. i still hold it against him that he had to go and die a few weeks before i was to see the BB in concert - i had 2nd row! the nerve!
  22. buy a ticket to the Eiffel Tower at Paris and go to the top at night to see the Bellagio fountains across the street - best $7 you'll spend! pretty cool view of the strip, too... Cirque du Soleil's Ka blew my mind... go to any Cirque show, but be prepared to spend at least $65 or so for the cheap seats... i had the best steak (filet mignon) i've ever had at Hard Rock's steakhouse. $60 but so, so worth it... go downtown to some of the casinos. old school Vegas. pretty cool. you can also see some old neon signs from back in the day that have been restored there... everything is so over-t
