i saw Shelby Lynne at a country bar back in the late 80s/early 90s and i remember nothing much about her except i thought she was pretty and had a nice voice. i was a little surprised years later when she was up for "best new artist" at the Grammys and she'd already had many albums out by then... wasn't their dad in a murder/suicide with their mom?

i was there, too. great show! never seen so many balloons in my life...

my beer snobbery be damned, i will say i had a few PBR's in the bleachers at a Cubs game earlier this year on a beautiful Friday afternoon when they beat the Brewers on a walk-off HR, and they tasted pretty damn good! so yeah, sometimes the circumstances dictate the taste!

New Belgium 1554 - a dark beer with some great chocolate/coffee tastes to it without being overwhelming... and you can't go wrong with pretty much any Boulevard beer...

we're gonna get ice and freezing rain in OK starting Sunday. yay! (blech!)

i saw Plant solo in 2005 and no, he couldn't hit the high notes, but the re-worked Zeppelin songs were pretty cool... i'm sure they won't be re-worked like they were on his solo tour with a middle Eastern and bluesy sound, but his voice was still really strong...

wasn't there a link around here at some point about who which candidate you most closely identify with? it was like a multiple choice test...

i saw them open for Sonic Youth last month and thought they were pretty good - sounded great, and seemed happy to be playing together again...
