What shows did you have a chance to go to but didn't?
borracho replied to Mrs. Peel's topic in Someone Else's Song
my cousin was at the back of the line getting us Zeppelin tickets in '77 and missed out by a few people... mom and dad wouldn't let me go see Black Sabbath/Van Halen in '78... "too satanic" and again with Sabbath in '80... mom and dad wouldn't let me and my brother drive to Wichita Falls in '83 to see The Clash. at least they let us drive to Dallas a few months later to see Bowie... i chose seeing Heart over Dire Straits in '85... "great" choice... felt ill in '94 the night Nirvana was in town, so i didn't go... another "great" choice... -
that's not an upset... whenever those 2 teams play, it doesn't matter the records/rankings... just a good old-fashioned brawl!

Johnny Cash and the Carter Family in Bartlesville, OK - 1996(?) or 97... he got sick a few days before the show and cancelled and never rescheduled... i had 5th row, too... -
bike-friendly - OKC no, Norman not great, but better... this is a very car-driven area - public trans. isn't that great - people around here just like to drive their cars! it's a very sprawling area - i think the OKC area is in the top 5 in the country as far as number of square miles... there's some festivals here and there... the OKC arts festival in April, and a few others scattered around in the spring/summer... i think Norman may have a few in the spring/summer - a jazz festival, a medieval fair... and i'm sure the university does some things too... the seasons here are wacky... 3 day

i live in Edmond, which is OKC's north suburb, but think Norman would be a great place to live... nice college town and like Saut said, borderline progressive for OK! very friendly people, living expenses are cheap, Norman has a nice club that gets some great acts (Blitzen Trapper is next week, they've had Hold Steady, Spoon, etc...), and a good record store, too... nice local restaurants and shops in the area... it's also got the chains, and big box stores, but it's not overwhelming... not sure about jobs, but OK as a whole has been doing fairly well as far as not losing as many jobs as the r

borracho replied to El Picador's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
all this hit a little too close to home (literally!) today... tornado passed a mile or so away from my house, did some damage to the northwest/west OKC area... more funnels on the way! yuck... -

Artists that you came to late in the game
borracho replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
i wouldn't listen to Modest Mouse because i thought their name was pretty dumb. still do. but i donated to KEXP and they sent me a funny shirt that had a "modest" mouse cartoon on it and thought that i should give them a shot and at least listen to something... and now i can't get enough of their music... -
How the West was Won was recorded in '72... a great live set from 2 concerts... and some interesting reading on how all the live stuff has been spliced together by Page: http://www.thegardentapes.co.uk/index.html

their show in '78 was one of the sloppier concerts i've seen, though... i think the drugs (theirs, not mine) may have had something to do with it?
