  1. Hope that guy isn't next to me at the Wilco show next month.

  3. That's not too bad. I'm just nerdy enough to make a setlist (if I can) during every show I attend.
  4. So the setlist so far is: Wilco (the Song) Bull Black Nova You Are My Face IATTBYH Shot In the Arm ALTWYS Sonny Feeling Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway(again) Deeper Down Is that correct?
  5. I just discovered Augie March through my penchant for buying $.01 CDs on Amazon. I picked up a copy of Moo, You Bloody Choir and listened to it in its entirety on my home stereo, something I don't get to do that much anymore (I usually just road test my "new" used CDs in the car to make sure there are no skips and then burn them onto my iMac and iPod). Anyway, this is quite a band. I'd say that Moo is one of the better CDs from newer bands I've heard in the last decade. I'll be delving into the rest of their little catalogue for sure.
  6. Phil Ochs - Doesn't Lenny Live Here Anymore? Phil once described this song as "a study in levels of depression," and he wasn't kidding. He committed suicide at 35. You laugh at the people who walk outside on the sidewalk And you talk to yourself so much That when you see other people you can't talk This time it's true The charade is through And you can't seem to run away from you And the haggard ex-lover of a long-time loser Stands rejectedly by your door Doesn't Lenny live here anymore? Are you sure? You sit at the desk To lose your life in a letter But the words don't seem to come and
  7. I played a clip from the Rachel Maddow show about this story for my wife, and we both laughed because this was who we thought of right away. Wouldn't eliminating 12th grade just give all the 11th graders "senioritis" syndrome?
  8. I have been to several shows there in the past, and I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of sitting. The seating in Ruth Eckerd is not really conducive to standing for the entire night. I'm skinny enough to do it, but anybody weighing over 200 lbs. will be wedged in between the rows like a sardine in a can. That being said, if the band comes out and plays upbeat songs right up front, everybody jumps up and stays up, I'll be up for a good long while. And if I take a sitting break, I don't care who's in front of me.
  9. I wouldn't rate it up there with the best performances of The Who. I gave it the ratings I gave it taking into consideration their age/rustiness (they don't exactly tour constantly) and the medley factor. For what it was, I thought they pulled it off quite well. I'm thinking Mellencamp is going to be getting a shot. People tend to forget how big Jack and Diane was.
  10. Twenty-seven songs! That's a legendary setlist. I hope they play that many in FL. I especially love the I Can't Read What I Wrote Down and I Forget What's Next listings. That is some classic shit, Terrapin Ben. If Wilco plays something in Clearwater that I don't know, I'm going to post it on here as No Fucking Idea What This Is.
  11. Happy birthday to you, because you have a very cool first name!
  12. Seconded. I actually like a lot of this better than most of what's on the last couple Wilco studio releases. Jeff sounds really relaxed, and the collaboration with Feist works well too, IMHO.
  13. That was sweet seeing Peyton Manning bite the dust. I never liked that guy.
  14. Damn, I love the Who. I'd rate that performance: Pinball Wizard - B Baba O'Riley - A Who Are You - B Won't Get Fooled Again - A
  15. Seconded, as you could probably guess from my avatar. I would add Waka/Jawaka & Grand Wazoo to that list. Other greats: Bruce Cockburn - In The Falling Dark, Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws & Stealing Fire ... and a whole buncha others!
  16. Yeah, I always knew the Beatles did a lot of Berry covers in their early days, most famously Rock & Roll Music and Roll Over Beethoven, but I never knew about the Come Together/You Can't Catch Me connection. Honestly, I have a ton of Chuck's Anthology material on my iTunes, but I don't listen to it much. I find him pretty repetitive after just a couple songs.
  17. I always knew Lennon and McCartney were huge Chuck Berry fans, but I never really thought there was any lyrical connection there...just an influence. But a minute ago, this Chuck Berry song You Can't Catch Me came up on my iTunes, and I heard the following lyric: New Jersey Turnpike in the wee wee hours I was rolling slowly 'cause of drizzlin' showers Here come old flattop he was movin' up with me Then come wavin' goodbye I did a double take. Huh? Did I hear that right? I looked up the lyrics, and sure enough, there it is. Lennon copped almost that whole line to start Come Together. He
  18. Talking Heads - True Stories, Naked I love these guys, but these discs were clearly the beginning of the end. They're sort of in between Little Creatures and David Byrne's Rei Momo in terms of quality, and neither goes far enough in either direction, if that makes sense. A couple good tracks on each disc, but that's about it.
  19. The Harpur College of Arts and Sciences eventually became Binghamton University. I went to grad school there.
  20. Listening to this right now. I really love this era of T-Heads. Thanks for posting the link!
  21. It sure ain't this guy: http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/2010/01/29/12665141-wenn-story.html?cid=rssentertainment
  22. I did this too. Good stuff, and makes donating seem like an easy "win-win."
