  1. Ryan Adams: I know that I've told the story here more than several times, but I got to hang out on Ryan Adams' tour bus after his show at the Hampton Beach Ballroom Casino in April 2005. My close friend who is a musician met him a few nights earlier in Vermont at Higher Ground and asked my friend for a cd of his music. Actually, during the show he saw my friend and said, "Do you have it? You do. Nice!". We both look at each other and did the Wayne & Garth "NICE!". After the show he takes off his cowboy boots (this was during the Cold Roses tour) and signs autographs for fans in the back of

  4. What makes you think that Jane's Smiley's Boyfriend leans to the right? Or better yet, is just like you? The above thought process is kind of absurd. So your nightmare scenario is listening to this woman's thoughts while driving and eating? What do you think you are, in a Woody Allen film? But if she shared the same ideologies as you would you mind her "chit chatting"? Hey, maybe you're right. Maybe he is right leaning and they have hot 12 minute sex.
  5. Hey, fans of Zooey! Just dropping in to let you know that you can access her new FOX pilot over on Comcast's On Demand feature (and possible other cable companies' On Demand feature). A little birdy told me that. I think it premieres next Tuesday otherwise? Nope. Tuesday September 20th. New Girl - I guess the premise is that Zooey leaves her cheating boyfriend and moves in with 3 male roommates. Hilarity ensues.
  6. The ending of the song is the closest thing that the band has done to really tip their cap to the work of Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones & John Bonham.
  7. Or a "Cherry Coke" sung to the melody of Theologians. "Hey! Here's a cherry coke. A cherry coke! Ahhhhhhh huhhhhh."
  8. I hope that Wilco went for the trifecta on this session and that there's songs left in The Loft about Tavis Smiley & Guy Smiley.
  9. Enough with the "this" or "that"! Do you people want a Kia hamster infestation?!?!
  10. I think it's a bit unfair to think that their "best" song writing days are behind them. I'm not sure why people tend to think that. Will Jeff Tweedy stop having life experiences to write about? The same goes for filmmakers, but it is a bit different. Auteurs like Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg have produced some of the best commercial films in the past 30 years. Can you label some of these films in certain ways? Sure. You could easily apply the "Mafia" label to Scorsese. So what happens to him when he pulls a Kundun or Bringing Out The Dead. Half of the people cry out for the next Goo
  11. I have another confession to make. I knew that you did. I recognized your name on Last.FM. You're lucky that I didn't rat you out. Also, has anyone ever tried Drop Box? My best friend and I just set it up for file sharing. Extremely easy and safe to use. STILL LOVE The Whole Love! Edit: Also, just played this for above best friend and he only wanted to hear the 1st 4 tracks and head off home. I knew that he'd end up staying for the whole thing. He also loved every track. P.S. Oh, and some of you should check your inbox for PMs from me. I randomly sent out the link to folks on here and I
  12. Art Of Almost might just be the sexiest track that Wilco has ever recorded. Really loved the whole thing on the 2nd listen. I'm more aware of the tracks that weren't played at Solid Sound. There isn't one track that I don't like. I need some time to get to know 12 new friends. Edit: Also, Whole Love is an amazing tune. Love it when it picks up in the middle. Definitely going to try it out in the car system for some cruising. One more thing: I wasn't really let down by Sky Blue Sky or The Album, so I feel lucky enough to have enjoyed everything that they've put out which is rare for most
  13. According to Wilco's Facebook update, West Coast shows will be announced for early 2012 "soon". I'm assuming they'll announce them after the 1st U.S. East Coast leg (which is early October). Then I'd expect shows in the Southeast in Feb or March.
  14. I need to have Art Of Almost playing in my car on this holiday weekend, so that I can get pulled over by the police for speeding like a mad man. WOW! Listened to that one again and that solo is just face melting. You can't help but go over 100m.p.h with playing like that.
  15. Art Of Almost = Holy Sheeeeeeet! I haven't been that excited since ..... I Might definitely sounds like a different mix. Sunloathe is very nice. Definitely very Beatles, Beach Boys and late 90s/early 00s R.E.M (Parakeet, At My Most Beautiful etc). Dawned On Me sounds so good. There really is so much going on in each song. Love the backing vocals and phrasing a la Madonna's Like A Virgin. LOL Black Moon is quite gorgeous. Really enjoy the orchestral arrangement that comes in late. Born Alone sounds great. Love the outro. Great lyrics. Open Mind is another beauty. Love the musical ar

  18. This reminded me of Jerry Stiller as Maury Ballstein in Zoolander: I've got a prostate the size of a honeydew and a head full of bad memories.
  19. If I win the listening party up in Maine, I'll record the new album for you there or call you.
  20. Wilco's Facebook reply to the obvious concern about shows out there: West Coast dates tba soon for early 2012 Edit: Oops! Uberlee & I posted this at the exact time, so I'll leave up the bit about the West Coast dates.
  21. Did you sit next to a beautiful brunette?
  22. Listening party on......September 26th! In Saco, Maine with Bob Ludwig. http://www.bullmoose...r=258&nocache=1 Bull Moose Records is a great indie record store in Maine and New Hampshire. Edit: I replied that Wilco may "leak" the album on their own website like the last couple and Bull Moose responded rather quickly with this "@kristofor, that seems very likely. We are temped to caution fans against listening online. The six tracks we have already heard contain a lot of detail that won't really come through your computer speakers. If you really love Wilco (and don't win this contest)

    Black Moon

Mmmm. Sounds like a tasty track.
  24. From Wilco's Facebook status update today: Standby. We'll announce the 2nd leg of the "Whole Love" North American tour this Friday. Edit: I'm actually genuinely happy that they're adding some shows so that those of you that don't have Wilco coming in the following month will get to see them.
