  1. Yes, her. Deb. Deb, don't let us scare you off. We are a marvelous blend of goofy, brilliant, and cranky. A nice mix.
  2. Maybe...you don't mind if they say "Wilco" on them, do you? j/k, j/k!!! We are ridiculously off-topic here.
  3. Hahaha, I'd forgotten that one. "Ummm...no." Diane, thanks for your kind thoughts about Curly. On a happier note, my Dad's improving.
  4. Yes, it would. I would only have a problem if it appeared he was trying to use our forums to sell something. We don't allow that or this place would be nonstop spam.
  5. So true, so true. Those of you who take issue with this decision, I do see your side of the argument. This was my action, and I have outfitted myself in a black leotard and tights to best facilitate any tarring, feathering, and riding out of town on a rail that might be deemed necessary. Here's the deal. The original thread was, as Gogo has stated, "borderline". I have no problem with newbies and am in fact a huge promoter and welcomer of newbies. I read through the original thread when it was reported to me. I gave it a fair amount of thought, and ultimately decided that it did, in fact,
  6. I have that Knees single. When I interviewed Dave Edmunds years ago, during Rockpile days, I'd brought a few discs along for autographs from Nick and Dave. That Knees single was the only one Nick refused to autograph, insisting it wasn't him! I've got some of the Kippington Lodge singles too. Pretty awful, but the photos are funny.
  7. Ok, that's a seriously cute flyer and a great version of "Box Full of Letters" Too bad I have plans Friday (daughter's birthday celebration) or I'd totally consider making the trek fro Riverside to SD. Have a terrific show! Love John's reaction to your flyer! We saw them the next 2 nights, at Pioneertown & then L.A., both terrific shows. John told us in Pioneertown that they'd had a great time in San Diego & dug the little venue there.
  8. Damn good stuff! Next time we put together a Wilco Tribute album, I hope you guys will consider submitting a song!
  9. Got mine too...all 3 BS albums as well as Ian & Jeb Loy Nichols' "Only Time Will Tell". Ian was sweet enough to autograph all, at my request. Cool! I haven't even listened to any of it yet though, because I've been so busy between my Dad's hospitalization and my own gang, including me, all being sick with a nasty flu. I can't wait but I want to find a peaceful moment to be able to get swept up in these cd's. I know I'm going to love them! The Brinsleys could always make me so damned happy. Great story about Juju Man, PopTodd! That's a great mental picture.
  10. Saw this show and the previous night's (Pappy & Harriet's, in Pioneertown, CA, 2-4-11) this week, and can't say enough about what a wonderful time we had. This band just gets better and better, and hearing the gorgeous purity of John's and Pat's voices, alone or together, is a treasure. They have such a solid band behind them, and it's very clear how much everyone onstage is enjoying themselves, and it all comes together so beautifully, startlingly perfect. Some of the songs were so breathtaking that I found myself literally holding my breath, just swept up in the moment. Hot damn. Bu
  11. I've wanted to post about this show and the next night's, at the Troubadour in L.A.on 2-5, but 2 nights of musical magic have had the unfortunate backlash effect of causing my (somewhat-recovered-from) bronchitis to come rebounding back! Must've been all that howling happily along with "Sentimental Lady" and "You Can't Have Me" in the encores. At any rate, I have to get well because my daughter's 15th birthday is this weekend. So for now, let me just say that Pappy & Harriet's was a grand time and the band were magnificent and had a ball. More details and some photos to follow! Tonight I'm
  12. And I lurve you guys like you can't imagine!!! What a week this has been...my dad collapsed a week ago, and in that time has basically died 4 different times and been revived...now he's out of the ICU and doing better, and has a new, better pacemaker. Driving up to see him yesterday, my son Brennan and I came upon a horrible freeway accident that had just happened seconds before, and stopped to help. There were small children and Brennan helped get them safely out of harm's way, and gave the woman driver his cell phone to call her husband (911 had been called by another driver who stopped).
  13. Dad is better! He's getting his pacemaker replaced today with a better one that should function better for his particular needs. That's a very simple procedure, very non-invasive. Yay for non-invasive! It was overwhelming to finally see him awake yesterday. He was amazed that it was Tuesday...the last he remembered was talking with my sisters on Saturday. Everybody was pretty damned emotional around his bedside, as you can imagine, and the wonderful ICU nurses kinda let the rules slide and let about twice as many people in at a time as they were supposed to, to visit him. But oh, we needed
  14. This week is blurring into one of rhose surreal stretches of life that only make sense later, if then. I'm all goofy with sleep deprivation and stress and emotion. Dad's angiogram was scheduled for today around three p.m., but then his cardiologist had an emergency come up in a nearby city, and rushed off to that, and Dad got cancelled for today. They let the sedatives wear off to check Dad's neurological functions, and we got the good news we suspected when he followed directions to squeeze hands and push his foot against a hand. He even one-arm hugged both my sisters, and that had both of th
  15. Mike, love and prayers for your own family health crisis! I hope we both have good news in the end. My dad is still hanging in there...doing ok, but heavily sedated. He is having an angiogram in a couple of hours, and we should know more after that. Brennan and Alissa and I are going to drive up there soon. It's an hour's drive to the north of us. We'll only be able to see him for a few minutes, and he'll be under sedation, but I need to see him. It just feels wrong to be an hour (or more, depending on freeway construction! Yesterday we hit a miles-long detour.) away when he's undergoing the
  16. Hey all, if I am a bit out of touch right now it's because my dad, 87, collapsed yesterday and had to be rushed to the hospital. My sisters were visiting, thank God, so they began chest compressions immediately and kept him alive until the paramedics arrived and took over. Dad's had heart problems for years and has a pacemaker. At the hospital they got him stabilized and sedated him heavily overnight. We of course rushed up there (an hour away) and I was reassured a little because he had good color, not that chilling gray tone. We stayed for awhile but came home because he was so sedated that
  17. Steve's an incredible drummer! I think Joey's worked with Wilco since about 2008.
  18. Thanks for sharing Stewart's commentary, Diane.
  19. Is a good thing, yes? Somebody raised that one right! A hero, in my eyes.
  20. I agree so much. It's so much easier to look away, to stay uninvolved...and truthfully, there are times this is even necessary, for our own safety...but far more often, there are ways in which we could be kind and caring humans, and maybe make a huge world of difference by not shying away. Once again, the signs were there and people didn't act. If someone had, maybe those people would be alive still, and their families wouldn't be shattered with grief. I'm going to recommit myself to doing better and try to be more help.
  21. report-majority of money donated at church... Apparently, our love is almost all the money God has!
