  3. HIGHLY recommend him. He's a part of the Ethan Johns mafia. (And it may be me...but he reminds me just a bit of Ryan Adams).
  4. Yeah... The odd thing about this is that this church is associated (at least by name) with a major denomination. It's usually the non-denominational churches that are kinda out there.
  5. Probably because you sported a Disco Sucks t-shirt...
  6. It really isn't that hard to follow. The face of disco (outside of the BeeGees) was Black Women (Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, etc.) and gay men (Sylvester et al.) Disco rose out of the gay clubs in NYC and was embraced by the Black music scene. I alway looked at EARLY Disco as being the heir of R&B as Punk was the heir of Rock. They both got watered down for mass consumption and taste.
  7. I always felt uncomfortable with the whole 'Disco Sucks' thing. It always had a nasty undercurrent of racism and homophobia in it. You shoouldn't define yourself by what you don't like.
  8. It might also be interesting (and chilling) to cite examples where bands have been crushed by thieving management and record company chicanery: Badfinger Big Star Dwight Twilley Band
  9. The Prophecy I don't know why...but I really kinda like this one. featuring the greats...Christopher Walken, Elias Koteas, Viggo Moretnsen, Virginia Madsen...
  10. A codicil to the Godwin's Law...Guccione's law.
  11. Sounds like you're at the same place with Springsteen that I am with Tom Petty. I find it exciting and reassuring that Dylan, Young, Springsteen and Petty are still pursuing an actively productive career path and not going the 'play the hits in the sheds touring' route.
  12. Dude...just stop. Glory Days wasn't on Tunnel of Love.
  13. Someday, unless you are killed by a jealous husband or wife, you will be a 58 year-old fart. I don't imagine one's world or life should end with a number being attached to you. Springsteen happens to be in a very productive stage of his career. Since 2005 he has produced a solo acoustic record followed by a worldwide tour; a large band folk record followed by a worldwide tour; a live record of the folk record; an e-street band record and major tour. He calls scoreboard on your slacker ass.
  14. I like it...Pop Tart, Porkchop Crow says...HEY!
  15. Nah...you keep right on posting. A-man's just worried that you might catch up with his post count in about 13 years.
  16. I fell asleep in ALIENS 3. Even the loud soundtrack couldn't keep me up. And Jimmy Neutron (OK...it was Christmas and I was taking the kids to the movie....too much egg nog and a late night putting stuff together...)
  17. Ghostbusters in 1984 because the projector kept fucking up. The Good Shepherd because they evacuated the theater due to tornadoes in the area. Other than that, I don't generally go see a movie unless I am relatively sure I will like it; therefore, I don't leave because of disappointment.
  18. Bruce Springsteen Bob Dylan Chuck Berry Baseball Jack Daniels
  19. I don't buy into the cult...but I really like The Bends and OK Computer. In my opinion, they started believing their press and fell victim to the navel gazing wankery that Brit Bands so often do.
  20. As Calif. fires burned, copters grounded By AARON C. DAVIS and MICHAEL R. BLOOD, Associated Press Writers As wildfires were charging across Southern California, nearly two dozen water-dropping helicopters and two massive cargo planes sat idly by, grounded by government rules and bureaucracy. How much the aircraft would have helped will never be known, but their inability to provide quick assistance raises troubling questions about California's preparations for a fire season that was widely expected to be among the worst on record. It took as long as a day for Navy, Marine and Califo
  21. You know what they used before Tasers? Gun shots or choke holds.
